Thanh Hoa Club confirmed that it will not continue to work with striker Lucas Ribamar after the 2024-2025 V.League season ends. This is a reluctant decision because it is known that the Brazilian player requires a salary of more than 30,000 USD/month - the highest figure in the current V.League.
Despite receiving invitations from big teams in Indonesia and Korea, ribamar still prioritizes returning to his hometown Brazil to be with his wife in time she is preparing to give birth to her first child. He also rejected attractive offers from The Cong Viettel and Binh Duong.
The striker born in 1997 came to Thanh Hoa after a long-term injury to Gordon Rimario. The start was not very impressive, but Ribamar played better and better, especially during the period when the Thanh team faced many difficulties.
At the end of the season, ribamar scored 12 goals and had 7 assists. The achievement is enough to make many teams want to bring this foreign player to their team.
The striker's departure left a big gap in the attack, but Thanh Hoa still kept another pillar, Rimario. The Jamaica striker has pledged to stay despite receiving continuous invitations from The Cong Viettel.
The leadership of the Thanh team is completing the naturalization procedures for Rimario, opening up opportunities to increase internal strength without limiting foreign players.
On the coaching bench, the Thanh team also changed when saying goodbye to coach Tomislav Steinbruckner, who has only worked for half of his season. Despite being highly appreciated for his professional ability, the Croatian strategist could not bring the team to the expected results.
He was replaced by coach Choi Won-kwon - former captain of Daegu club (Korea) from 2022 to April 2024.
With a modern coaching style and fiery fighting spirit during his time in competition, coach Choi Won-kwon is expected to bring a new vitality to Thanh Hoa in the 2025-2026 season.
