On the afternoon of September 17, coach Vu Hong Viet and goalkeeper Nguyen Manh attended a press conference before the opening match of the AFC Champions League Two (Asian Cup C2).
The opponent of the team from Thanh Nam in the opening match is Lee Man club (Hong Kong, China).
Opening the press conference, coach Vu Hong Viet said: "Historically, Nam Dinh Blue Steel has won the V.League championship twice. The first was in 1985 and recently another V.League championship after 39 years.
In addition, we also participated in the Asian Cup C2 after winning the National Cup in 2003. And this is the second time Nam Dinh team participates in this Asian playground."
Previously, Nam Dinh left for Hong Kong (China) yesterday (September 16), right after round 1 of V.League 2024-2025. The Vietnamese representative had 2 training sessions to get familiar with the field and weather there.
Regarding Nam Dinh's goal, the coach born in 1979 emphasized: "The whole team has prepared carefully. Nam Dinh's goal is to win. In tomorrow's match, Nguyen Xuan Son (Rafaelson) will definitely participate in the competition."
Evaluating opponent Lee Man, coach Vu Hong Viet said: "We really don't have much information about Lee Man club. We only learned about them after the last 2 draws in the Hong Kong Premier League. As far as I know, this is a strong opponent, because their squad has many foreign players."
For his part, goalkeeper Nguyen Manh said: "Nam Dinh Club is ready for tomorrow's match. This is an important match for the whole team, because we represent Vietnamese football in the AFC Champions League Two. The players are ready to have the best performance."
According to the schedule, the match between Lee Man and Nam Dinh clubs in Group G at AFC Champions League Two will take place at 7:00 p.m. on September 18 (Vietnam time).
