On the morning of May 1, DJ Management company announced that it had reached an agreement to manage Champasak United club.
The team currently competing in the highest level of Laos, the Lao Premier League, will be renamed Champasak Avenir FC. The agreement between DJ Management and this team lasts until the end of 2031.
It is known that this is the first time in the history of Korean football - an independent club management company has participated in running a team in a foreign national championship. DJ Management called this a bold and unprecedented move.
In fact, in the past year or so, the mark of this company in Lao football has become increasingly clear. It should be emphasized that this is the company representing Mr. Ha Hyeok-jun - the current head coach of the Laos team. In addition, at the end of last year, this company also supported a few clubs in the K.League (Korea) to go to Laos for training.
Through the above moves, the company wants to expand the market in Lao football after having some certain successes with Vietnam. DJ Management is also the management company of Mr. Park Hang-seo (now Vice President of the Korea Football Federation) and Mr. Kim Sang-sik. Both of these strategists helped Vietnam win the ASEAN Cup in history.
Returning to Champasak Avenir FC, this team aims to compete for the Lao Premier League championship. If successful, they will qualify for prestigious continental and regional tournaments such as the AFC Challenge League and the Southeast Asian Club Championship.
Champasak United was founded in 2008 under the name of Champasak club. In 2012, when it was sponsored by Saigon - Hanoi Joint Stock Commercial Bank (SHB) of Vietnam, this club changed its name to SHB Champasak. In 2015, after this unit ended sponsorship, the team changed its name to IDSEA Champasak United.
