Former national player Le Sy Manh has just assaulted a referee in a match at a grassroots football tournament.

The incident happened during a match in a Thanh Hoa amateur tournament taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.

In this situation, Le Sy Manh collided with an opposing player inside the penalty area. Referee Pham Van Nguyen gave Sy Manh a yellow card when he determined that he had elbowed the opposing player. Before the collision, the referee had reminded the player to let go of his hands when fighting.

After being booked, Sy Manh walked away and swung his arm at the referee's face, resulting in a second yellow card. After this yellow card, Sy Manh immediately rushed forward, kicked the referee in the hip and punched him in the face.

The players on the field rushed in to stop him, but Sy Manh still chased after him and threw his fists at the referee.

Sharing with Lao Dong after this situation, referee Pham Van Nguyen said that he would let the tournament organizers decide the penalty for Le Sy Manh's hooliganism.

This is not the first time Le Sy Manh has committed an act of misconduct. In 2017, while working as an assistant at Hai Phong club, he hit Vietnamese-American goalkeeper Dang Van Lam. This action caused Sy Manh to be immediately fired by the leadership of Hai Phong club.

Le Sy Manh, born in 1984. During his playing days, he played as a striker for many clubs such as Hanoi T&T, The Vissai Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong... Sy Manh was also a member of the Vietnam national team under coach Henrique Calisto.
