According to the ASIAD 2026 Organizing Committee, the Team Welcome Ceremony program takes place for three days, September 16-18, each day with 3 hours including 10:00 AM, 1:30 PM and 5:00 PM. Each session welcomes 3-6 delegations, with the number of members being limited due to the venue.
The program content includes introducing delegations, cultural performances, welcome speeches, raising flags, giving souvenirs and taking photos. The organizers want to emphasize the connection between delegations through the hospitality of the locality.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration, Head of the Vietnam Sports Delegation said that the delegation will send about 12-14 members to participate according to the regulations of the Organizing Committee. The composition includes 4 athletes, including 2 volleyball players and 2 sepak takraw athletes. The Vietnamese flag raising ceremony takes place at 10:00 AM on September 18.
Also according to Mr. Hong Minh, the health of the athletes is currently stable and the whole delegation is ready to enter the Games.

ASIAD 20 has its own characteristics when not using a centralized athlete village. Teams are arranged in many different accommodation locations, making the operation and coordination between athlete groups need separate plans. The Vietnamese delegation has prepared an operating plan to ensure support for the teams during the competition.
The Vietnamese Sports Delegation participates in ASIAD 20 with 498 members, including 348 athletes, competing in 33 sports/sub-sports. The entire delegation aims to win 4 or more gold medals.
The opening ceremony of ASIAD 20 takes place at 6 pm on September 19.
Also on September 18, the ASIAD 20 torch relay journey will pass through the final stage at Hisaya-odori Park. The Grand Goal program with about 1,000 participants closes the journey before the fire is brought to the opening ceremony.
