The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will draw the 2025-2026 Asian Women's Club Championship tomorrow (September 11), after determining the list of 12 teams eligible to participate in the group stage.
Notably, Vietnam has been awarded the right to host a group by AFC. This helps Ho Chi Minh City club - the representative of Vietnamese football - have more advantages in playing at home.
Ho Chi Minh City participated in the Asian Women's Cup C1 thanks to reaching the quarterfinals last season, along with a high score on the AFC women's team rankings.
According to the announcement, the group stage held in Vietnam will take place from November 13-19. Meanwhile, the group stage in Myanmar will take place from November 9-15 and the group stage in China from November 17-23.
After the group stage, the top 6 teams, second in each group and the 2 teams with the best results will enter the quarter-finals, competing in the first leg - return in March 2026.
Sharing about playing at home, coach Doan Thi Kim Chi expressed: "This is good news for the HCMC women's team. Currently, the team is participating in the national women's championship.
To prepare for the continental tournament, we are looking for more foreign players but are having difficulty because the contract time is short and the good foreign players have not expired their current contracts with clubs.
The team is also calculating a pre-tournament training plan. In the continental tournament, Ho Chi Minh City club continues to aim to pass the group stage.
More importantly, participating in the Asian tournament helps players have the opportunity to compete internationally and receive more investment attention. practicing with foreign players also helps Vietnamese players become more excited and try harder".
