Storm No. 3 (Yagi) made landfall in September 2024 and floods after the storm were the most serious natural disaster in the North in many years. Lao Cai province is considered one of the localities that suffered severe consequences of flash floods and landslides that left more than 200 people dead and missing, hundreds injured, and caused economic losses of over VND13,000 billion.

Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, with the support of the Central Government, sponsors and benefactors, Lao Cai province quickly rebuilt the new Nu Village on Sim Hill, about 2 km from the old location.
40 new stilt houses are built according to the architecture of the Tay ethnic group, along with public works such as cultural houses, classrooms, power and road auxiliary works...

Not only at all levels of government, but from all over the country, volunteer groups, social organizations, philanthropists, and businesses have turned to Lang Nu with all their hearts.
Hundreds of trucks carrying necessities connected to the village; many packages of cash support, necessities, and free medicine distribution to the people. It is not only a source of material support but also a drop of sympathy, a tight hand, and words of encouragement that have become a fulcrum for people to stand up after the incident and rise up in life.
Up to now, 33 houses have been donated to households in Lang Nu, 7 houses were completely lost to some households, and some households voluntarily returned them due to the loss of all their relatives. The vacant houses are being used as a place to teach and learn embroidery, some are arranged as a resting place for tourists when visiting Lang Nu.


After a year, the old village was built into a memorial area; the people's production land is being filled with colored soil to give to households to continue farming. In the new village, the lives and activities of the people have become more disciplined, the trees are lush green.
