On the evening of October 11, defender Doan Van Hau suddenly appeared in the friendly match between Hanoi Police Club and Hanoi FC. The match is part of the training plan to prepare for the next phase of V.League 2025-2026.
Van Hau's return after a long period of injury treatment has made many fans happy.
In this match, both teams used many reserve players because the pillars were competing with the national team and U23 Vietnam. Coach Alexandre Polking sent Van Hau onto the field in the second half.
The 1999-born defender played confidently, showing positive signs after more than 2 years of absence due to a persistent heel injury.
Initially, Van Hau was diagnosed with need to be out of competition for 6 to 8 months. However, due to not having immediate surgery, the recovery process took longer than expected. In March 2024, he was forced to undergo surgery.
After that, Van Hau continuously traveled between Singapore and Korea for treatment, often having to use scarves and support equipment in daily activities as well as exercises. It took him more than 2 years of perseverance and determination to return to the field.

In a recent event, Van Hau shared that he was now able to practice lightly with the ball and gradually get used to the intensity of the competition. He said that the recent period has been a challenging period and only hopes that all efforts will be rewarded with the opportunity to return to official competition.
Before suffering a long-term injury, Doan Van Hau was a pillar of Vietnamese football. He was included in the squad that won the 2018 U23 Asian Cup runner-up position, won the 2018 ASEAN Cup, and joined the national team to reach the quarter-finals of the 2019 Asian Cup as well as the final qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup.
