On the evening of December 30, the Thai team won 3-1 against the Philippines after 120 minutes of the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2024 semi-final. This result helped coach Masatada Ishii and his team win a ticket to the final to face the Vietnamese team with a total score of 4-3 after 2 semi-final matches.
"The key to today's victory was that all the players trained hard and fought for 120 minutes, including the enthusiastic cheers of the fans throughout the stadium. This helped us win today," coach Masatada Ishii said about the hard-fought comeback against the Philippines.
Regarding the preparation for the two final matches against the Vietnamese team, coach Ishii shared: "We only have 2 days to rest. It's a pity that there are injuries, but we will try our best with the players we have and are ready to use at this time.
For the plan for the first match in Vietnam, I tried to look at each match. Before the tournament started, I told all the players that I would win all 8 matches but now we cannot do that. We have to win the remaining 2 matches and become champions."
The first leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final between Thailand and Vietnam will take place at 8:00 p.m. on January 2 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho Province). To prepare for this match, coach Ishii's team will travel to Vietnam today (December 31).
