As part of the preparation plan for the 2024 AFF Cup (newly named ASEAN Cup), the Vietnamese team had a training session in Gyeongju (Korea).
During 10 days of training and friendly matches with 3 K.League clubs, Ulsan Citizen (won 2-0), Daegu FC (won 2-0) and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (won 3-1), coach Kim Sang-sik gradually stabilized the personnel and playing style for the Vietnamese team.
“I see that the players’ skills are getting better and better, and the team’s tactics and techniques have also improved a lot. Vietnamese players have a very strong passion for football as well as strong will and motivation. I am satisfied with that,” Mr. Kim shared.
The training session in Korea is an important preparation stage for the Vietnamese team before the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship.
Coach Kim Sang-sik emphasized: “The team’s goal is to reach the final of the tournament. That is the expectation of all Vietnamese fans, the whole team and myself. To do that, we need to try our best starting from the opening match against Laos and try to win every match.”
“The players and I understand the love of football of the Vietnamese people. We will make sure to meet everyone’s expectations with good results at the upcoming ASEAN Cup. We need everyone’s support.”
Tomorrow (December 3), Kim Sang-sik and his team will return home. Before leaving for Laos to play the opening match in Group B, the Vietnamese team will have additional players from Nam Dinh Club. Thanh Nam Club will complete the group stage matches of the European Cup C2 on December 4.
