According to the plan of the Government Steering Committee on orientation for arrangement and streamlining of the Government apparatus, the competent authorities orient the structure, arrangement and consolidation of 14 ministries and ministerial-level agencies.
In which the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Construction will be merged. The name of the Ministry after the arrangement is expected to be the Ministry of Infrastructure Development or the Ministry of Transport and Urban and Rural Construction. The Ministry will perform the state management function in the sectors and fields currently assigned to the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Construction.
The Government Steering Committee assigned the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Transport to develop a project to merge the two ministries. Arrange, restructure and drastically reduce the internal organization to perform functions, tasks and powers after merging the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Construction.
It must be accompanied by a draft Decree stipulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development or the Ministry of Transport and Urban and Rural Construction.
As assigned by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha will directly direct the arrangement and consolidation between ministries and internal organizations of ministries and branches, including the merger of the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Construction.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is assigned to preside over and coordinate with the Government Office to prepare content for the Government leaders to work with ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and agencies under the Government to thoroughly grasp and deploy tasks with ministries and branches that are merged, consolidated, terminated, reorganized, or receive additional functions and tasks.
The Ministry of Construction is a Government agency, performing the state management function of: Construction planning, architecture; construction investment activities; urban development; technical infrastructure; housing; offices; real estate market; construction materials; state management of public services in the fields of state management of the Ministry according to the provisions of law.
The Ministry of Transport is a Government agency, performing the function of state management of road, railway, inland waterway, maritime, and civil aviation transport nationwide; state management of public services according to the provisions of law.
