According to the latest information, coach Nguyen Thanh Cong has reached an agreement to part ways with Hong Linh Ha Tinh club right after the 2024-2025 season ends. Although his contract is still valid, the coach born in 1977 has proactively asked for retirement to focus on treatment and health recovery.
At first, the team's leaders did not agree and convinced coach Thanh Cong to stay. However, in response to legitimate wishes, they agreed to let this strategist go.
This decision surprised fans, especially after the impressive season that Hong Linh Ha Tinh just experienced with a position in the top 5 - the best achievement ever under coach Thanh Cong.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong started leading Ha Tinh from the second half of the 2021 V.League season. Despite many difficulties in the following seasons when competing for relegation or playing in the play-offs (2023-2024), he still maintained the stability of the team.
Notably, in V.League 2024-2025, Ha Tinh created special milestones. They are the only team to remain unbeaten after the first leg with 3 wins and 10 draws. This achievement helped the Central region representative become the 3rd team in the history of V.League to do this, after Song Lam Nghe An ( losing the first leg in 2012, 4 wins, 9 draws) and Hanoi FC ( losing the first leg in 2018, 11 wins, 2 draws).
In addition, coach Nguyen Thanh Cong and his team also dethroned Song Lam Nghe An to become the club with the most draws in a season with 15 matches, 1 match more than the Nghe An team in the 2012 season.
