Recently, coach Koji Gyotoku was appointed by the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) to lead the women's team of this country to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship in Vietnam, taking place from August 6 to 19.
At the beginning of the year, the coach born in 1965 was assigned to coach the national team and U23 Cambodia, preparing for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand as well as many other international tournaments.
When announcing this decision, FFC General Secretary Keo Saret said: The overall decision of the board was based on a comprehensive assessment of the work he has shown.
We do not only look at a single result, but focus on leadership and management skills. This is a key factor that makes Mr. Gyotoku chosen over other candidates, both domestically and internationally".
With this decision, Mr. Koji Gyotoku became the only coach to hold the position at the same time in all 3 most important teams of Cambodian football, a rare thing in the region.
In the 2025 Southeast Asian U23, U23 Cambodia, led by him, was in the same group as U23 Vietnam and lost 1-2 to coach Kim Sang-sik and his team. However, Mr. Koji still receives high trust thanks to his ability to develop young players and extensive international experience.
With a FIFA Pro, Mr. Koji Gyotoku is considered an experienced strategist. FFC's full trust in him shows its ambition to comprehensively develop Cambodian football, from youth, national team to women's football.
