According to the schedule, the Indonesian team will visit Myanmar in the opening match of Group B at the AFF Cup 2024.
In this year's tournament, the Indonesian team did not have the services of naturalized stars like in the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup, because the home clubs did not release players.
The current Indonesian squad consists mostly of young players from the U21 and U22 age groups. Accordingly, there are two players over 21 years old: defender Pratama Arhan (born in 2001) and Asnawi Mangkualam (born in 1999). The remaining players were all born after 2003, the youngest being striker Arkhan Kaka (born in 2007).
16/24 players of the Indonesian team participating in the AFF Cup 2024 have never played for the national team before. Coach Shin Tae-yong himself also expressed concern because his players' physical strength does not meet professional requirements.
On the other side, Myanmar is considered one of the two weakest teams in Group B, along with Laos. According to head coach Myo Hlaing Win, Myanmar has prepared carefully for the 2024 AFF Cup, including strategy, player rotation and predicting different situations.
The match between Indonesia and Myanmar at the AFF Cup 2024 takes place at 7:30 p.m. today (December 9) and will be broadcast live on FPT Play.
