On the afternoon of April 23, on her personal page, Madam Pang suddenly posted a photo of her lying in bed. The image shows the face and eyes of the President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) being somewhat tired.
Although not clearly stating their condition, at the bottom of the article, many people expressed concern and sent their best wishes to Madam Pang, especially football fans in the land of the Golden Temple.
A few hours earlier, Thai media reported that Madam Pang had donated 25 million baht (about 20 billion VND) to FAT, used as a deposit advance payment to Siam Sport Company to prevent the Enforcement Department from carrying out enforcement procedures, including confiscating or freezing FAT's assets.
It is expected that on May 11, the Football Association of Thailand will organize a negotiation with Siam Sport to find a new solution for the remaining debt.
In March, the Thai Supreme Court decided to lose the FAT lawsuit due to the unilateral termination of the television rights contract for tournaments organized by the federation in 2016. FAT must compensate 360 million baht, plus interest since the lawsuit was filed on February 5, 2016.
The incident occurred when Mr. Somyot Poompanmoung was Chairman of FAT for the 2016-2024 period, creating a lot of debt but the consequences are causing Ms. Pang and her colleagues to suffer.
Regarding the lawsuit, the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports said FAT must take responsibility for paying the compensation. Although the agency sympathizes with FAT's difficult situation, it cannot do anything else.
Madam Pang herself also burst into tears at a press conference on March 11 because of the debt of the Football Association of Thailand.
Currently, Madam Pang and FAT are stepping up fundraising activities such as selling jerseys and holding drama performances to increase the amount of money that can be used to pay off debts.
