On the afternoon of March 15, the Vietnam team continued to have a training session at Binh Duong Stadium to prepare for the upcoming two matches against Cambodia and Laos. In this training session, central defender Pham Ly Duc was assigned to answer the press.
At the beginning of the interview, Ly Duc expressed his excitement at being called up to the national team for the first time. He said: With a young player mindset, I am very happy to be on the squad list. At first, I was very worried, but later they all supported me during my activities and practice.
I shared the same room with Chau Ngoc Quang from the club to the national team. I find them very sociable and friendly. In the team, they all have different strengths, I still lack a lot of things and need to learn from them. If I lack anything, I really like to confide in the brothers in the defense like Duy Manh, Thanh Chung, Tien Dung".
"They only teach me a lot about being around people and communicating on the pitch. Every day in the national team is the day I get to go to school, which is very precious to me," Ly Duc added.
Ly Duc said that coach Kim Sang-sik's lesson plan is different from his strategy at Hoang Anh Gia Lai club. The young midfielder born in 2003 also hopes to be given the opportunity to play by Mr. Kim.
"Regarding competition, everyone wants to be on the main squad list. I am a young player, so my job is to always try to show myself so that he can see and give me opportunities. The lesson plan here is very different from the club, the important thing is that he tries to meet the exercises given by the coach. I hope he will give me a chance to enter the stadium and show me. If I get to enter the stadium, I will try my best," Ly Duc said.
The Vietnam team will play a friendly match with Cambodia on March 19 and meet Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on March 25. Binh Duong spectators can buy tickets directly at the stadium from 9:00 to 11:00 in the morning, starting tomorrow (March 16).
