The group stage of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship has concluded and revealed the quarter-final matches.
In the first knockout round, the Vietnam women's futsal team will face the Japan women's futsal team. This will be a difficult challenge for coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team, because the opponent is one of the top futsal teams in Asia.
Previously, the "Golden Star Warriors" entered the quarter-finals as the top team in Group B. Thanh Hang and her teammates defeated Hong Kong (China) 5-3, the Philippines 3-0 and drew Iran 0-0.
On the other side, Japan won second place in Group C. The team from the land of the rising sun defeated Indonesia 5-2, overcame Bahrain 3-2 but unexpectedly lost 1-3 to Thailand in the final match.
In the history of the tournament held in 2015 and 2018, the Japanese women's futsal team has reached the finals both times. However, they only won the runner-up position when they lost to Iran in both encounters (0-1 and 1-3). Therefore, this time, Japan is determined to go a new way in the championship goal.
Ahead of the important match, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang said: "We have closely monitored and evaluated the opponents. The coaching staff will have appropriate tactical options to help the team best prepare for the upcoming match".
In addition to the match between Vietnam and Japan, the quarter-finals of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship will have other exciting matches.
Accordingly, the Chinese futsal team (first in Group A) will face another Southeast Asian representative, Indonesia (the third team with the best record).
Meanwhile, the Thai women's futsal team (first in Group C) only has to meet Hong Kong (China) as the 3rd place team with the best record.
The challenge for defending champion Iran (second in Group B) is predicted to be easier when facing only Taiwan (China) as the second team in Group A.
