The Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) has issued an official dispatch approving the Vietnam team to compete in the 2024 ASEAN Cup at Viet Tri Stadium when this stadium meets the standards for grass and functional rooms.
Thus, the matches between Vietnam and Indonesia (December 15) and Myanmar (December 21) will be held at Viet Tri Stadium.
If the Vietnamese team passes the ASEAN Cup group stage, VFF will continue to consider options for choosing the stadium for the semi-finals and finals.
Viet Tri Stadium is in good condition after renovation and upgrading to prepare for the 31st SEA Games in 2022. VFF often chooses this stadium to host matches of many levels of Vietnamese teams.
Viet Tri Stadium has also successfully organized Group I of the 2025 AFC U17 qualifiers. Vietnam U17 won a ticket to the final round in this qualifying campaign.
With Vietnam playing at Viet Tri Stadium, Timor Leste's matches will take place at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi). Previously, Timor Leste had expressed their intention to rent Viet Tri Stadium as their home stadium for matches against Thailand (December 8) and Singapore (December 14) in Group A of the ASEAN Cup 2024.
