On the afternoon of December 1 in Bangkok (Thailand), after the U22 Vietnam team arrived at the training ground to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Anh Tu shared about the team's preparation process and adjustments related to the competition schedule as well as the location of Group B.
According to the announcement from the Organizing Committee, the opening match of U22 Vietnam will take place on December 3, one day earlier than the original plan. Vice President Tran Anh Tu admitted that this had a certain impact, but affirmed that the team had prepared backup plans early.

"adjusting the schedule forces us to make certain changes. VFF has quickly built options, including the possibility of playing in Bangkok or Chiangmai.
When the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee finalized the competition location in Bangkok, VFF immediately sent two officers to the front gate to prepare for all logistics work. Up to now, the team's travel process from entrance to hotel rooms has been smooth and convenient," said Mr. Tu.
VFF also promptly assessed the traffic difficulties in Bangkok to build a reasonable travel schedule.
"The training atmosphere of the whole team is very good. Everyone is ready for the upcoming matches, Mr. Tu emphasized.

When asked about the preparation for the confrontation with U22 Laos in the opening match, Vice President Tran Anh Tu said that the foundation of the team was built throughout the year, not just limited to the most recent gathering.
He affirmed: "If we look at the time of concentration after the 1/8 round of the National Cup, or the fact that some Hanoi Police players were late, we can see that the time was urgent. But in reality, the U22 Vietnam squad has been stable and trained continuously over the past year.
We have had 3 training trips in China, a quality training trip in Qatar, winning the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, and then won all of them in the 2026 Asian U23 qualifiers. That is the entire process of methodical and continuous preparation, to help the team achieve the best state for the 33rd SEA Games.

Vice President Tran Anh Tu emphasized that VFF will continue to create maximum conditions in terms of expertise, logistics and spirit for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team to feel secure in aiming for the highest goal in the tournament.
U22 Vietnam will play the opening match of the 33rd SEA Games against U22 Laos on December 3 in Bangkok. With thorough preparation, long-term and a determined spirit, the whole team hopes to win all 3 points to create favorable momentum for the journey ahead.
