This gathering of U22 Vietnam is part of the long-term plan that the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has implemented since 2023, to build a strong force and be ready for important challenges in 2025. This focus is on two key tasks: the 2025 U23 Asian qualifiers in September and the 33rd SEA Games in December.
The highlight of this training session is the return of many excellent players from previous training sessions such as Ho Van Cuong (Song Lam Nghe An), Nguyen Van Truong (Hanoi), Nguyen Bao Long (PVF-CAND), Nguyen Manh Hung (The Cong Viettel), Nguyen Nhat Minh (Hai Phong) and Nguyen An Khanh (FK Trinec). In particular, many new faces were also given the opportunity to try out, including young players from the U19 and U20 age groups such as Nguyen Quang Vinh (Song Lam Nghe An) and Nguyen Le Phat (PVF-CAND).
A notable point is the appearance of midfielder Viktor Le, a Vietnamese-American face. Born in 2003 in Russia, Viktor Le has a Vietnamese father and a Russian mother. Having graduated from the CSKA Moscow club's training center, he plays as an attacking midfielder. Viktor Le played for Binh Dinh in the 2023 season and is currently playing for Hong Linh Ha Tinh.
Regarding the coaching staff, coach Dinh Hong Vinh will continue to hold the role of head coach of U22 Vietnam. Accompanying him are assistants coach Trinh Duy Quang, goalkeeper coach Tran Minh Quang and fitness coach Nguyen Tang Tuan.
According to the plan, U22 Vietnam will gather again on March 10 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. In particular, within the framework of this gathering, the team will participate in the CFA Team China 2025 international football tournament, taking place from March 20 to March 25 in Jiangsu (China), with the participation of 4 U22 teams including: Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Korea and host China.
This is the second consecutive time the U22 Vietnam team has been invited to participate in this tournament, after having very useful coordination matches with U22 China, U22 Uzbekistan and U22 Malaysia in the previous tournament in September 2024.
