Before entering the decisive match against U23 Saudi Arabia in the final round of the group stage of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation - Tran Quoc Tuan had a meeting with the U23 Vietnam team to encourage morale and emphasize the requirement of concentration in the key stage of the tournament.
Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan noted that although U23 Vietnam is holding a great advantage after 2 consecutive victories, the whole team is not allowed to be subjective. He also recalled past experiences when there were teams that had a favorable start but could not complete the overall goal, typically U20 Vietnam at the 2023 AFC U20 Championship.
From this lesson, the VFF President requested the players to focus on the upcoming match, because all scenarios are only decided after the last 90 minutes of play.
According to Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan, the important foundation of U23 Vietnam at this time is the experience and bravery that has been accumulated through many international tournaments.
He highly appreciated the preparation process of the whole team, and also said that VFF has created conditions for players to play and rub frequently with strong opponents, thereby forming a stable playing mentality in the continental arena.
VFF President believes that the task of the players is to maximize personal ability, strictly adhere to the tactics of the coaching staff and maintain composure in all situations. Only when the team maintains a good playing state will the pressure shift to the opponent. Organizing a reasonable playing style and implementing the plan correctly will determine the effectiveness on the field.
On behalf of the Standing Committee of the VFF, President Tran Quoc Tuan expressed his belief in the solidarity, will and responsibility of the players, and at the same time hoped that the whole team would maintain the highest concentration to prepare well for the match against U23 Saudi Arabia and the next journey at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals.
