Cardiovascular disease is considered a common disease in the elderly, but in recent years doctors have recorded a clear rejuvenation trend. There are many cases of patients aged 30-40, or even younger, who have to be hospitalized due to dangerous events such as myocardial infarction or arrhythmia.
According to the Ministry of Health, cardiovascular disease is currently the leading cause of death in Vietnam, accounting for about 33% of total deaths each year, equivalent to about 200,000 people. Notably, this group of diseases is no longer limited to the elderly but is increasingly appearing in young people.

At Nam Thang Long Hospital (Hanoi), doctors also recorded many young patients experiencing cardiovascular complications.
According to Dr. Ta Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of Nam Thang Long Hospital, in recent years, cardiovascular events have tended to rejuvenate, especially in the group under 40 years old, and there are even cases of myocardial infarction in people aged 20-25.
Doctors said that this condition comes from many different causes, first of all the sedentary lifestyle. Study and work pressure makes many young people spend most of their time sitting in front of computers, rarely exercising physically, thereby increasing the risk of overweight, obesity and metabolic disorders such as diabetes.

Unhealthy eating habits, the tendency to consume a lot of fast food, fried foods, and fatty foods but lacking green vegetables can promote the formation of atherosclerosis plaques in arteries.
The use of stimulants such as cigarettes, e-cigarettes, alcohol or other addictive substances also damages the blood vessel lining and increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
In addition, pressure in modern life causes many people to experience sleep deprivation, the sympathetic nervous system is more active, increasing heart rate and blood pressure, causing many young people to experience cardiovascular events.
Therefore, doctors recommend that young people, especially those with underlying diseases, need to increase physical activity, at least 30 minutes/day, adjust their diet, reduce fatty foods, give up habits of using addictive substances and manage stress and sleep quality.
According to doctors, detecting cardiovascular disease in young people is often more difficult because many people are subjective about their health, only going to the hospital when symptoms have become serious.
When signs such as sudden pain in the chest area, shortness of breath, dizziness or spiking blood pressure appear, patients need to go to a medical facility for examination and timely treatment to avoid making the disease worse," the doctor recommends.
