Industry and Trade Union actively supports people in flood-hit areas

After storm No. 3, the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade quickly called on union members and workers to support and share with people affected by storms and floods.

On October 13, Mr. Phan Van Ban - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade (VTC) said that storm No. 3 (Yagi) caused heavy damage, both in terms of human lives and property, in the northern provinces.

Sharing the losses with the people in the storm and flood areas, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour quickly took action, calling on union members and workers in the industry with the spirit of mutual love and support, helping each other, to join hands and share with the people who suffered losses.

Responding to the call of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, all civil servants and employees of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Agency participated in contributing 1 day's salary to support people to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3.

Along with that, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour organized a working delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour to directly visit, encourage and give support money at units such as the Trade Union of Tien Phong Youth Plastic Joint Stock Company, the Trade Union of Hai Phong Spare Parts Equipment Joint Stock Company, the Trade Union of Hanoi-Hai Phong Beer Joint Stock Company, the Trade Union of Hai Phong Chemicals and Electrical Materials Joint Stock Company, the Trade Union of Thai Nguyen Industry and Trade Sector... The total amount of money that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour visited and gave support to the units was 298 million VND.

In addition, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also mobilizes and guides its affiliated unions to support, contribute, and share with collectives, units, and individuals affected by storms and floods in accordance with the call of the General Secretary, President, Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Minister of Industry and Trade, and implementing the direction of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor...

As of September 30, 2024, 45 affiliated unions have contributed more than VND 1,626 billion through the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour. In addition, units have coordinated with their professional counterparts through the Central and local Fatherland Fronts and other organizations and units to donate money and goods worth hundreds of billions of VND.

On behalf of the units, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour transfers 1 billion VND out of the total amount donated by the affiliated units through the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour to the Central Relief Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The remaining amount donated by the units will be compiled and reported to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.
