According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL), storm No. 3 (storm Yagi) has caused heavy damage to people and property in the northern provinces and cities of our country.
Responding to the call of General Secretary and President To Lam and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to mobilize support for people to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has initially donated 5 billion VND.
Along with that, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also called on and mobilized civil servants, public employees, union members, and workers to support with a common mobilization effort of one day's salary/income per person or more, to share and provide material and spiritual support to people facing difficulties due to the impact of storms and floods to contribute to the Party and State to quickly restore production and stabilize people's lives.
The Standing Committee of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized working delegations to directly visit, encourage, and give gifts to union members and workers in localities that suffered heavy damage due to storm No. 3 and floods in 2024.
To date, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has supported 15 localities severely damaged by storm No. 3 and floods in 2024 with a total amount of over 13.6 billion VND.
According to the records of trade unions at all levels, in the past time, union members and workers continued to believe in the Party's policies and guidelines, the State's legal policies; and were conscious of complying with labor laws, regulations, and rules of agencies and enterprises.
Union members and workers actively participate in production and work, respond to activities organized by unions at all levels and are very excited when the Government issues regulations to increase the basic salary from July 1, 2024.
Currently, union members and workers are concerned and worried about the debt of social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance that is still happening, posing a potential risk of labor disputes; criminals using high technology to target workers with increasingly sophisticated tricks; fluctuations in market prices, especially of essential goods, are increasing; the situation of natural disasters, storms and floods is complicated and unpredictable; the production and business situation of a number of enterprises is still difficult due to lack of orders, operating at a standstill... which has affected the jobs, income, and lives of union members and workers.
Faced with the above situation, Vietnam Trade Unions at all levels have stepped up activities towards union members and workers. In the third quarter of 2024, over 921,245 union members and workers were visited, encouraged, cared for and supported by trade unions at all levels.
