Strengthening inspection and supervision of gender equality

Hanoi - On November 15, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union held a discussion on gender equality and the role of women.

Attending were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice President of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Do Chi Thanh - Deputy General Director, Head of the Department for the Advancement of Women of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group.

The discussion is one of the contents of the Oil and Gas Women's Forum. Here, delegates participated in the discussion on Gender Equality in Vietnam and promoted the role of female employees in implementing the development strategy of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group.

Over the past years, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Group has directed Party committees at all levels, unit leaders, the Committee for the Advancement of Women, and the Trade Union to promote the dissemination of the Party's guidelines, policies, and resolutions, and the State's policies and laws related to women's legitimate rights and interests; develop an annual action program for the Advancement of Women that closely follows the directives, resolutions, and tasks of the unit in the direction of increasing the participation of female officers and employees in management and leadership positions, gradually reducing the gender gap in the political field; Improve the quality of female human resources; ensure gender equality in the fields of health care, propaganda, and education; improve the capacity and effectiveness of the Committees for the Advancement of Women, etc.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Leaders of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union, Ms. Nghiem Thuy Lan - President of Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union launched the Action Month for Gender Equality and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence in 2024 from November 15, 2024 to December 15, 2024, with the theme "Ensuring social security, empowering and creating opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence".

Accordingly, units and political and social organizations at all levels in the Group carry out contents such as promoting communication activities on gender equality and prevention and response to gender-based violence; strengthening propaganda on the themes, messages and activities of the Action Month in various forms, applying information technology in propaganda, dissemination of laws, policies to ensure social security, regimes and policies beneficial to female officers, employees, workers, the role of empowering women in promoting gender equality in general and in implementing Conclusion 76-KL/TW of the Politburo on the development strategy of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group in particular.

Promoting the spirit of "One team - One goal", the activities of Gender Equality Month 2024 must be widely deployed from the grassroots, highly actionable, ensuring practicality, effectiveness, suitability to the actual situation of the unit, with the synchronous coordination of political and social organizations in the whole Group. Organizing forums, dialogues, seminars, workshops, training courses, competitions on the theme of Action Month 2024, activities to support female cadres and workers in difficult circumstances; taking care of female workers' health; praising outstanding collectives and individuals in gender equality work, For the advancement of women in general and the implementation of Action Month 2024 in particular.

In implementing the 2024 social security plan in localities, focus on taking care of women and children in difficult circumstances. Strengthen inspection and supervision of gender equality and For the Advancement of Women at the unit during the Action Month. Strictly handle violations of gender equality and prevention and control of gender-based violence.

This is an activity in response to the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence; Promoting the role of Women in implementing Conclusion 76 - KL/TW of the Politburo on the development strategy of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group; towards the 63rd anniversary of the Oil and Gas Industry's Traditional Day; 33rd anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union.
