On June 26, Vietnam National Shipping Lines (VIMC) and VIMC Trade Union held the 5th Patriotic Emulation Conference for workers, civil servants, and laborers of Vietnam National Shipping Lines in 2025.
Attending were Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Cao Anh Tuan - Deputy Minister of Finance, Le Anh Son - Chairman of the Board of Directors of VIMC; Nguyen Canh Tinh - General Director of VIMC.
Over the past 5 years (2020 - 2025), emulation and reward work has been given attention by Party committees at all levels, professional leaders, and trade unions to lead, direct, and organize implementation with good results. Many emulation movements have been launched in terms of content and form, associated with the implementation of "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style", with the completion of production and business tasks of each enterprise and Corporation.
Some typical improvements from emulation movements such as Hai Phong Port applying the Automatic Gate system (Smartgate) at Tan Vu branch with the gate passing process being automated and streamlined, completely cutting out paper work at the port gate, saving time for vehicles entering and exiting the gate (previously it took 2.3 minutes for 1 trip in and out, but now it only takes 22 seconds for vehicles to enter and 10 seconds for vehicles to exit, drivers do not have to get out of the car in conditions where there were no incidents with containers - distorted foundation, failure...).
Da Nang Port improves the Container import-export line, applies a positioning support system for tractor-trailer operators working in the container exploitation line, a solution applied from 1.2023 to increase Container loading and unloading productivity by 15 seconds/cont.
The Maritime Project Management Board has improved the design and construction of construction items under the EC package - Investment project to build Container Wharf No. 3 and No. 4 at Hai Phong International Border Gate Port. The change of the 100,000 DWT rear wall plan and treatment of the foundation with earth cement piles to the Buffer Bridge plan has saved construction costs up to 82.697 billion VND...

Regarding the work of developing plans and launching emulation movements at the grassroots level, the Corporation's Trade Union has paid special attention to directing and guiding grassroots trade unions to develop plans and organize the launch of emulation movements in a methodical and practical manner. As a result, 100% of affiliated grassroots trade unions have proactively developed annual and gradual emulation plans, closely following the specific production and business tasks of their units and the general goals of the Corporation. This figure not only reached but also exceeded the set target of 90%.
100% of emulation movements after being launched are maintained, nurtured, summarized and replicated with advanced models, excellently completing the set targets. This demonstrates the continuity, sustainability and real effectiveness of the movements. Key movements such as "Good workers, Creative workers", emulation movements according to industry topics, emulation movements to ensure maritime safety, labor safety... have truly gone into depth, creating specific results, contributing to the overall achievements of the unit and the Corporation.
The rate of rewarding direct employees - one of the important goals of innovation in reward work is to focus on the grassroots, especially employees who directly produce and work. Therefore, the rate of reward for direct employees at the Corporation level reached 30% and at the grassroots level reached over 75%. This result shows worthy recognition for the silent but extremely important contributions of the direct workforce, thereby creating strong motivation for them to continue to contribute.
Looking back on the 5-year process of implementing emulation movements, Mr. Le Phan Linh - Chairman of VIMC Trade Union affirmed that the Conference is not only an opportunity to look back on the 5-year emulation journey of more than 23,000 VIMC officers, crew members, and workers, but also a basis, a source of encouragement, and a backpack for each VIMC employee and the country to enter a new era.
Speaking at the Conference, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh highly appreciated the innovation of emulation and reward work among workers, civil servants, laborers and trade union activities of VIMC Trade Union. The emulation content is no longer general but increasingly adheres to specific production and business goals such as rapid ship liberation, ensuring maritime safety, saving costs, improving service quality, applying information technology and digital transformation.
After 5 years of competition, there are 90 typical advanced collective and individual examples. Of which, 35 collectives and individuals were honored at the Conference.
