On October 28, Mr. Le Thanh Xuan - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Trade Union (TKV) - said that, implementing the Resolution of the 6th TKV Trade Union Congress, term 2023 - 2028, the TKV Trade Union has deployed the development of a Resolution and Project of the Executive Committee on participating in taking care of housing for union members and workers in the period 2024-2028. Guiding and urging units to review and survey workers' families in the criteria for support in house construction and repair from the "Union Shelter" fund.
In the third quarter of 2024, the industry union accepted and handed over funds for building and repairing houses for 84 union members and workers (62 newly built houses, 22 repaired houses) with a total amount of 5.4 billion VND. Since the beginning of the year, the TKV Union has supported union members with 115 shelters (84 newly built houses, 31 repaired houses) with a total amount of 7.34 billion VND.
Currently, the Group has 22 units with dormitories with a total of 4,978 dormitories for employees, including 3,772 rooms for single households and 1,108 rooms for families.
In the third quarter of 2024, the units continued to actively respond to the action program to build a "Clean - Civilized" worker housing area launched by the TKV Trade Union. Organized and implemented "Green Saturday" with environmental sanitation activities, waste collection, tree care and pruning in the collective housing area. Regularly checking and repairing facilities, waterproofing toilets, replacing damaged sanitary equipment and electrical equipment, the units actively worked with specialized agencies to invest, repair, and equip rooms in the collective housing area, the total amount spent on equipping and repairing the collective housing areas was 9.85 billion VND.
In particular, Uong Bi Coal Company equipped 263 mops for the dormitories. Nam Mau Coal Company surveyed, maintained and repaired old and broken equipment of the cultural and sports center, replaced 60 old and broken wooden beds with 60 stainless steel beds. Vang Danh Coal Company equipped electric kettles and water bottle holders for the dormitories, rewarded 46 groups and 66 individuals with achievements in managing and directing the implementation of the program to build a "Clean - Civilized" worker housing area with the amount of 118.7 million VND;
