Vietnam Construction Trade Union and Lao Trade Union strengthen experience sharing

Vietnam Construction Trade Union exchanges and shares trade union operating experiences with the Lao Trade Union Federation Central Committee.

On the side of the Delegation of the Lao Trade Union Federation Central Committee were Ms. Chanpenh Maniseng, Head of the Labor Protection Department of the Lao Trade Union Federation Central Committee, Head of the delegation; and members of the Delegation of the Lao Trade Union Federation Central Committee.

Speaking to welcome the delegation, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation of the Lao Trade Union Union Union Central Committee to visit, work and exchange experiences. At the same time, he emphasized that the friendly, solidarity, and cooperative relationship between the trade union organizations of Vietnam and Laos is increasingly consolidated and developed; exchange programs and experience sharing are practical opportunities for both sides to learn together, improve the effectiveness of trade union activities, and better meet the requirements of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers.

Providing general information about the Vietnam Construction Trade Union, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung said that the Vietnam Construction Trade Union is a central industry trade union directly under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, merged from the Vietnam Construction Trade Union and the Vietnam Transport Trade Union from March 20, 2025. Currently, the Vietnam Construction Trade Union directly manages 35 upper-level trade unions and 159 grassroots trade unions; the entire industry has 719 grassroots trade unions, with 128,894 union members out of a total of 132,712 workers.

In recent years, the Vietnam Construction Trade Union has focused on performing well the work of representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers; taking care of life; propagating, mobilizing, developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions; coordinating the implementation of occupational safety and health; organizing emulation movements and many practical activities towards grassroots levels, union members, and workers.

At the working session, the two sides focused on exchanging and sharing experiences on 4 key contents including: union member development, establishment of grassroots trade unions; labor dispute mediation; negotiation, signing and implementation of collective labor agreements; labor safety and hygiene.

Representatives of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union shared practical experiences in organizing trade union activities, in which they emphasized the role of trade unions in proactively grasping the situation of labor relations, representing and protecting the rights of union members and workers; coordinating with employers to build harmonious and stable labor relations; improving the effectiveness of collective bargaining, building and implementing collective labor agreements; and at the same time strengthening solutions to ensure occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace.

The delegation of the Lao Trade Union Federation Central Committee also exchanged and shared practical experiences in trade union activities in Laos, thereby clarifying issues of mutual concern and exchanging solutions suitable to the actual conditions of each country.

The working session took place in an open, sincere and warm atmosphere of solidarity and friendship. Through the exchange program, the two sides had more opportunities to share practical experiences, contributing to strengthening understanding and cooperation between the Vietnam Construction Trade Union and the Lao Central Union of Trade Unions, and at the same time continuing to cultivate the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between trade union organizations of Vietnam and Laos.
