186 union members received support from the Union Shelter
At the conference, Mr. Doan Van Su - Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial Labor Federation, Head of Emulation Cluster No. 8 - said that the cluster currently has 273,338 workers, civil servants and laborers. Of which, 257,493 are union members belonging to 6,662 grassroots unions.
In 2024, businesses and units in the cluster focused on taking care of people's lives and creating stable jobs with an average salary of 6.5 - 7.2 million VND/person/month. However, by November 30, 2024, the Central Highlands provinces recorded 29 work-related accidents, killing 17 people.
The Union has promptly provided legal advice, support, encouragement and protection of the rights of workers who have suffered losses. Collective bargaining and the signing of labor agreements have achieved many positive results with 678 collective agreements signed. Of which, 182 units have organized dialogues and negotiations to improve welfare, especially improving the value of shift meals for workers.
During the year, the Trade Unions of the 5 Central Highlands provinces organized or participated in 394 inspections and supervisions, and commented on 495 documents related to labor laws and policies. Trade unions at all levels also provided legal advice and timely support to 9,320 union members and workers to resolve problems related to policies and regulations.
In addition, the work of caring for the material and spiritual life of workers continues to be focused on. The emulation cluster has organized visits and given gifts to 155,377 difficult cases and those suffering from serious illnesses with a total cost of more than 72 billion VND.
The program "Union Shelter" continues to spread, supporting the construction and repair of houses for 186 union members and workers in difficult circumstances with a budget of more than 5.43 billion VND.
Overcoming difficulties and fighting waste
In 2025, Emulation Cluster No. 8 aims to continue to promote its role in caring for and protecting workers, promoting collective bargaining, improving welfare and supervising the implementation of legal policies in units and enterprises. At the same time, it will focus on building a strong union team that is more attached to the organization.
Speaking at the conference, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh praised and highly appreciated Emulation Cluster No. 8 in developing union and trade union members. The work of developing union members always closely follows the instructions of the Provincial Party Committee and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, completing and exceeding the targets set in 2024.
The trade unions at all levels in the five provinces have taken care of and protected the rights and social security regimes for workers. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requested the emulation bloc to promote the achieved results, organize seminars, discuss and discuss solutions to overcome limitations and shortcomings.
According to Mr. Phan Van Anh, the current level of support for “Union Shelter” maintained for many years is not suitable for reality and is still at a low level. In the near future, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will soon have instructions, guidance, and readjustment of the support level for workers accordingly.
In 2025, trade unions at all levels in the Central Highlands need to continue the task of developing union members along with Party building work, while reviewing, rearranging, and merging agencies and units in a streamlined, efficient direction, practicing thrift and fighting waste according to the policies set forth by the Party and State.
“If dissolved or merged, public assets related to real estate and land assets are redundant and not needed, there must be a plan to handle them. The viewpoint of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is that if there is no need to use them, the assets will be handed over to the local authorities for management. Because if used for the wrong purpose or not used, it is also a waste,” said Mr. Phan Van Anh.
Emulation cluster No. 8 also needs to increase the organization of training courses, raise awareness for union members and workers, especially new issues such as: Trade Union Law, Vietnam Trade Union Charter. The union also needs to increase care for workers not only on holidays and Tet but regularly, with highlights.
