Access to mountainous labor, opening up opportunities to work abroad
Mr. Cao Cau (residing in Phuoc Dong commune, Nha Trang city) said that both husband and wife do not have stable jobs. In 2022, Mr. Cau accessed the need to recruit construction workers in Japan, he registered to work with an income of 35 million VND/month. Thanks to this salary, Mr. Cau's family has a stable income, built a house, and escaped the poverty status in the locality.
At the end of October 2024, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Employment Service Center (ECSC) coordinated with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) of Khanh Vinh district to organize a job fair at the People's Committee of Khanh Thuong commune. At this job fair, in addition to connecting the recruitment needs of domestic enterprises, the Khanh Hoa ECSC also searched for 70 workers to work in Japan and 162 workers to work in Taiwan (China).
Ms. Cao Thi Sang (22 years old, residing in Khanh Thuong commune), used to work as a garment worker at a company in Suoi Dau Industrial Park, but after the COVID-19 pandemic, her job was unstable. After researching, she decided to apply to work as a tailor in Japan. Ms. Sang said: "My family also has someone working abroad with a higher salary, so I decided to find a new job opportunity."
Implementing the "Project on Solving Labor and Employment in Khanh Hoa Province for the period of 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030", the Center has stepped up propaganda, connected with 60 reputable units and enterprises to support and promote the work of sending workers to work abroad under contracts. From a locality that has always been among the provinces and cities with few workers working abroad, after 3 years from 2021-2023, Khanh Hoa has had 685 people going abroad to work. Of which, the two mountainous districts of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh have 17 people, most of whom are poor workers working abroad under contracts. Since the beginning of 2024, the whole province has had more than 300 workers working abroad under contracts.
According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Khanh Hoa province, the average income of workers working abroad in the province is about 20 million VND/person/month. After the labor contract expires and workers return home, each worker accumulates from 850 million VND to 1 billion VND. Families with children working abroad have better material and spiritual lives. When returning home, the skills, foreign language knowledge, industrial style, and sense of organization and discipline of workers are significantly improved.
Promoting policies to support poor workers to work abroad
According to Mr. Dang Quang Giang - Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Employment Service Center, the number of workers sent to work abroad under contracts has increased every year, the quality of workers has improved, bringing good income, and many workers have had a better life after returning home from working abroad.
At the conference to review 3 years of implementing the program of sending Vietnamese workers to work abroad under contracts and deploying the policy of supporting loans from the National Employment Fund recently, Mr. Dinh Van Thieu - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested relevant units to advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the People's Council to promulgate a policy to support workers to work abroad under contracts for the period 2025-2030. Create conditions for workers, especially workers from policy households, poor households, near-poor households, and economically disadvantaged households to work abroad to earn high incomes, become quite rich, and contribute to sustainable poverty reduction.
Mr. Thieu emphasized that, along with promoting policies to support workers, all levels and sectors should strengthen supervision of the labor recruitment process of enterprises, avoid luring and cheating workers; publicize and make transparent the fees for workers to know and choose to participate. Coordinate well in implementing counseling and career guidance for students, students and workers on support policies and loans from the State to work abroad.
