More than 5.299 billion VND to support Trade Union Shelter
Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union (CĐXDVN) - informed that most of the funding support for building Trade Union Warm Houses (MÂCĐ) comes from the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Charity Fund. This is a fund obtained from donations and support from units, businesses and workers in the industry, helping CĐXDVN maintain regular activities to support MÂCĐ housing for union members in particularly difficult housing circumstances.
Before 2025, the support level for each MÂCĐ house was 40 million VND, from 2025, the support level has been increased to 60 million VND/unit.
In the period 2016 - 2026, CĐXDVN has supported the repair and construction of 183 MÂCĐ with an amount of more than 5.299 billion VND. Of which, the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Charity Fund is 66 units, with an amount of 2.750 billion VND; from contributions and support from agencies, units, and businesses is 114 units, with an amount of over 2.369 billion VND; from the Construction Industry Support Fund is 3 units, with an amount of 180 million VND.
Many union members, after being supported, have had conditions to develop their family economy, gradually rise out of difficult circumstances, and feel secure in sticking with the unit and business for a long time. It is worth noting that the effectiveness of the program does not only stop at the value of monetary support. Each house creates a strong spread in the business and community. After being supported by the Trade Union, many businesses have continued to provide additional funding, construction materials, and labor days; many union members in the unit join hands to help colleagues complete their houses. Through this, the spirit of solidarity and mutual affection in the union members' team is increasingly promoted" - Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong said.
Need to diversify mobilized resources
On March 2026, the family of union member Bui Van Hoa, worker of Lam Son Road Management Department, Road Management and Construction Company 470 (Nghe An) was supported by the Vietnam Construction Trade Union with 70 million VND to build a MÂCĐ house. The funding to support union member Bui Van Hoa was deducted from the flower and gift funds donated by units to the XV Vietnam Construction Trade Union Congress (December 2025).
Moved when receiving support, union member Bui Van Hoa sent his deep thanks to CĐXDVN and expressed: "The MÂCĐ program is very practical, helping more workers in difficult circumstances in the Construction industry to have MÂCĐ. This is also a source of encouragement for workers to feel secure in working and strive to complete their tasks well.
Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong - Chairman of CĐXDVN - said that in order to continue to promote the effectiveness of the MÂCĐ Program, in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to pay attention to and allocate resources for the program; diversify resources mobilized from businesses, social organizations, charity funds and philanthropists to expand the scope of support.
Strengthen coordination between the Trade Union organization and businesses, local authorities and functional agencies in supporting workers with housing, legal procedures, preferential credit and other social security policies.
Housing construction support needs to be linked to sustainable poverty reduction programs, social housing development, housing for workers and other welfare policies to create overall effectiveness.
In addition to the MÂCĐ program, the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Charity Fund also supports the construction of gratitude houses for former youth volunteers in difficult circumstances. From 2016 to 2026, 56 gratitude houses were supported with a level of 60 million VND/house, with a total cost of 3.36 billion VND.
