Trade Union Shelter helps Da Nang workers settle down and stick to their profession

The "Trade Union Shelter" program of the Da Nang City Labor Federation over the years has helped many union members and workers in difficult circumstances stabilize their lives and gain more faith to stick with businesses for a long time.

Settling down to feel secure in working

The day she received the 50 million VND support from the "Trade Union Shelter" program, Ms. Nguyen Duong Thuy Trang - an employee of Da Nang Hospital - could not hide her emotion. Ms. Trang's family has lived with her mother-in-law for many years in a cramped level 4 house. Her husband is a worker with an income of about 5 million VND per month, and the couple has to save money to raise their two children to study, so building a private house is beyond their ability.

I am very happy and grateful to receive financial support from the City Labor Federation to build a house. The family will borrow more to build a solid house, to feel secure in working and taking care of the children" - Ms. Trang shared.

Not only Ms. Trang's family, the "Trade Union Shelter" program has become a support for many union members in difficult circumstances in the city.

Mr. Le Dinh Tam - a worker at Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, is one of the cases to receive housing repair support. His family encountered many upheavals when one child had thyroid cancer, weak health, and his wife lost her ability to work. The worker's salary is mainly used to cover living expenses and treatment, so the level 4 house has been degraded for many years and still does not have the conditions to repair it.

I am very grateful to the Trade Union organization for supporting house repair costs. This is a great encouragement for my family in difficult times," Mr. Tam expressed.

Spreading the spirit of sharing

Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation - informed: the "Trade Union Shelter" program of the Da Nang Trade Union organization in the past time has achieved many proud achievements. In the period from 2018 to now alone, the Da Nang City Labor Federation and Trade Union levels have built and repaired nearly 600 shelters, with a total value of more than 17 billion VND.

A noteworthy point is that besides the funding support according to regulations, many grassroots trade unions also mobilize additional socialized resources, mobilizing union members to support working days and construction materials to reduce costs for families. This approach not only helps to complete roofs earlier but also spreads the spirit of solidarity and sharing between workers.

Trade Union Home is one of the key activities, showing the humanity and deep concern of the Trade Union organization for the lives of union members, especially those in difficult housing circumstances.

After the merger, the Trade Union organization has changed its operating methods, but the task of caring for and protecting union members and workers, especially the "Trade Union Shelter" program, is still maintained and continues to be a bright spot of the Da Nang City Labor Federation" - Mr. Le Van Dai said.
