Mr. Le An Hai - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade (VTC) chaired the conference.
Sharing at the press conference, Mr. Le An Hai said that the Congress will take place over 2 days, December 18-19, at the International Convention Center, 11 Le Hong Phong, Ba Dinh, Hanoi. The Congress was attended by 300 official delegates called up from the Group's trade unions, corporations, and grassroots trade unions under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
With the motto: "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Innovation - Development", the congress is tasked with objectively and comprehensively assessing the results achieved in the period of 2023 - 2025, pointing out the shortcomings, limitations, and lessons learned after more than 2 years of implementing the Resolution of the 4th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; determining goals, targets, tasks, and solutions for the 2025 - 2030 term. Reviewing the leadership and direction of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, term IV; giving comments on the draft Political Report to be submitted to the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; electing the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, term V, 2025 - 2030 and electing delegates to attend the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, term 2026 - 2031.
For the 2025 - 2030 term, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor sets the goal of: Innovation in flexible content and methods of union activities, in line with reality; focusing on representing, caring for, and protecting legitimate rights and interests, in a practical and effective manner; promoting the pioneering role, proactively innovating the team of cadres, civil servants, and public employees, making worthy contributions to the country's economic development, realizing the aspiration to turn Vietnam into a developing country with modern industry, high average income and successfully implementing the goal set by the Industry and Trade sector on modern industrial development, improving competitiveness, and being a leading group in ASEAN; focusing on building and training cadres representing the country in terms of political culture, qualities, capacity, and meeting the requirements in the new situation.
The 5th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also proposed 4 breakthroughs:
- Focus on performing the task of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members, workers, and collective laborers at the grassroots level; Promote dialogue and collective bargaining, focusing on wages, bonuses, working hours, rest hours, and occupational safety and hygiene;
- Focus on developing union members, establishing grassroots unions in non-state enterprises; Strengthen training, coaching, and improving the quality of union cadres, especially grassroots union chairmen with courage, enthusiasm, responsibility, prestige, and the ability to gather and unite among workers.
- Innovation in content and methods of operation; comprehensive digital transformation of trade union activities; participating in promoting innovation in labor, production and business, contributing to the country's development in the new era.
- Develop the Industry and Trade Trade Trade Union organization into a modern, internationally integrated and focused on the non-state economic sector in the direction of increasing the admission of non-state trade unions to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
The 5th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor marks the development step of the Trade Union organization of the Industry and Trade sector in the new era. The Congress called on all cadres, union members, and employees to uphold the spirit of solidarity, dynamism, innovation, determination to overcome difficulties and challenges, organize the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 5th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, term 2025 - 2030, strive to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country, build the Industry and Trade sector to develop sustainably, gradually modernise, contributing worthily to the people of the whole country entering a new era of development - the era of national growth, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, term 2026 - 2031 and the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress - Mr. Le An Hai shared.
