Thousands of free medical examination packages for union members
The Hai Phong City Labor Federation has just signed a program to coordinate health care for employees with Hanoi Eye Hospital - Hai Phong. According to the coordinated program, Hanoi - Hai Phong Eye Hospital presented 350,000 basic eye examination packages worth VND300,000/package to union members and workers of the City Labor Federation when coming to see an eye examination at Hanoi - Hai Phong Eye Hospital.
The hospital also committed to reducing 50% of the fees for other specialized eye examination packages, supporting 5% of the cost when union members and employees register for refractive surgery, 10% of other surgical services and 50% of diagnostic imaging services in addition to the selected examination list when coming to see an eye examination at Hanoi Eye Hospital - Hai Phong and at agencies, units and enterprises implemented by Hanoi Eye Hospital - Hai Phong; reducing 12% for agencies, units and enterprises recommended by the City Labor Union to use the service from the second year.
After the signing ceremony on May 18, nearly 600 union members and employees were examined for eye screening and discovered to have eye-related occupational diseases.
Previously, on May 16, within the framework of the Labor Union Culture and Sports Festival, hundreds of female union members and workers of the Party Agencies' Trade Unions received in-depth health check-ups. Director of the Center for Legal Consulting and Workers' Support (Hai Phong City Labor Federation) Pham Xuan Quyen said that in 2025, the City Labor Federation plans to organize health check-ups for about 5,000 female union members with a health check-up package worth 400,000 - 550,000 VND/person. This is a separate health care program for female union members, not included in the annual health check-up program at agencies, units, and enterprises.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha - a member of the Trade Union of Hai Phong City Party Agencies, 6 months after receiving a periodic health check-up at the agency, Ms. Ha was able to participate in the health check-up program on the occasion of Workers' Month. The quality examination package with eye, jawline, ENT, blood test, abdominal ultrasound, gynecological examination, cancer screening... helps employees grasp their health status and receive timely advice on treatment.
Caring for workers in difficult circumstances
Mr. Dong Van Viet (born in 1981, worker in Setto Department, Wayne Vietnam Co., Ltd.) is one of two workers who received 50 million VND in support to build a Trade Union Shelter at the launching ceremony of Workers' Month of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union.
Previously, Mr. Viet's family lived in a dilapidated level 4 house in Hai Ninh village, Kim Tan commune, Kim Thanh district (Hai Duong). His wife has postpartum complications and is unable to work; he himself has a hunchback problem but is still the main pillar with an income of more than 6 million VND/month.
It is expected that my familys 80m2 Trade Union Shelter will be completed in June. This is a meaningful material and spiritual gift, helping me gain more confidence and motivation to overcome difficulties, Mr. Viet confided.
It is known that during the Workers' Month 2025, 30 union members in difficult circumstances and in need of housing will be supported by the Hai Phong City Labor Federation with funding to build and repair Trade Union Shelters (an increase of 5 houses compared to Workers' Month 2024). The city's trade union subsidized 2,000 workers in difficult circumstances, each worth 1.5 million VND.
Along with activities to care for union members' lives, especially workers in difficult circumstances, during the Workers' Month, Labor Safety and Hygiene Month in 2025, Trade Unions at all levels focus on negotiating and signing quality collective labor agreements, bringing greater benefits to employees, striving to have at least 60 newly signed and re-signed Collective Labor Agreements, of which at least 40 are of type B or higher.
