According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center, the Unemployment Insurance (BHTN) Bulletin for the last 6 months of 2025 shows some notable characteristics of the unemployment structure in Hanoi. These characteristics reflect the shift in the labor market and the challenges posed to each group of workers.
Regarding age structure, 9.8% of workers receiving unemployment insurance are under 24 years old, this is a group lacking experience and skills; 27.83% of workers receiving unemployment insurance are over 40 years old, this is a group with extensive experience; 62.36% of workers receiving unemployment insurance are from 25-40 years old, this is the core labor group of the market. Therefore, the pressure to change skills is concentrated on the 25-40 year old labor group.
Regarding gender structure, women account for 60.19% of unemployment insurance recipients, mainly in the fields of garment and electronics; men account for 39.81% of unemployment insurance recipients, mainly in the fields of engineering and construction.
For workers aged 25-40, the Hanoi Employment Service Center recommends proactively updating technology skills and management skills to adapt to the new working environment.
Workers over 40 years old, due to experience, stability and job handling ability - these will be personnel highly appreciated by companies and businesses.
Workers under 24 years old need to strengthen the accumulation of vocational skills, soft skills and work experience through initial job opportunities.
