Initiative makes more than 1 billion VND profit
Describing this initiative, Mr. Vu Van Duong shared that the GM1 production line is one of the production lines for in-car entertainment equipment (IVI) products in the LG Eclectronics Hai Phong factory. On the GM1 line, the vibration testing step is an indispensable mandatory step according to customer requirements. The purpose of the step is to simulate the vibration of the car to then check the product's performance.
The vibration testing stage is performed by a worker who puts the product into the vibration machine for testing and then takes the product out after completion. “Through observation, I realized that at this position, the workers work very hard, so during the working process, there may be inaccurate operations that affect the quality of the product. Therefore, I am concerned about creating a fully automatic machine mechanism, reducing human effort while still ensuring the quality of the product after going through the machine,” said Mr. Duong.
From this idea, Mr. Duong started to research, calculate, and consult with outside suppliers. Realizing that hiring another unit would be expensive, while he could utilize the technical team as well as the old equipment available at the factory to manufacture new machines, Mr. Duong and his colleagues from the factory improvement and maintenance department agreed to design the drawings, program the controls, install and use them on the production line themselves.
The device uses an automatic control mechanism with a 3-axis moving structure, a rotating cluster that reverses the input product, a hand that sucks 2 products at the same time, combined with a mechanism to align and fix the product before sucking. Mr. Duong and his colleagues use Mitsubishi's PLC and HMI systems for control.
After testing on the production line, Mr. Vu Van Duong's solution clearly showed its effectiveness and met the requirements. The company's Board of Directors agreed to officially apply it to production from February 2024. The initiative helps increase output, reduce labor while still ensuring product quality, and economic efficiency of up to more than 1 billion VND/year.
Owner of a series of "automation" initiatives
In addition to the initiative "Design, manufacture and program the control of the product gripper for the GM1 IVI2-LG line vibration inspection stage", in more than 10 years working at HKTM Vina Co., Ltd., Mr. Vu Van Duong contributed dozens of large and small initiatives. All of these initiatives were conceived by Mr. Duong, who drew the mechanical structure design and instructed his colleagues in the company to install the mechanical and electrical parts, and program the machine to operate by themselves.
The passion for creativity is demonstrated through "golden" initiatives that have helped Mr. Duong receive many commendations and awards from the Trade Union at all levels. In 2022-2023, Mr. Vu Van Duong had 2 initiatives that won the Potential Award at the 4th Hai Phong City Workers' Technical Innovation Contest organized by the Hai Phong City People's Committee; 2 consecutive years of winning awards at the Hai Phong City Workers' Technical Innovation Contest organized by the City Labor Federation. For Mr. Duong, the recognition of the Trade Union at all levels and the company's leadership is the biggest motivation for him to continue pursuing his passion for creativity, coming up with quality initiatives to improve labor productivity, contributing to the development of the company and the city.
