Information from the Hai Phong City Labor Federation, to date, about 200,000 union members and workers in the city have registered to participate in the "Trade Union Meal" program - one of the activities to celebrate the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union on July 28; celebrating the success of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress.
The "Trade Union Meal" program is implemented by the Hai Phong City Labor Federation from July 15 to the end of August 31, focusing on the peak period on July 28 to promote employers to improve the quality of lunch meals, creating space for workers, trade union organizations and business and local leaders to share, listen to thoughts and aspirations, and strengthen the connection between parties.
To support the organization of the program, the City Labor Federation supports 0.25 kg of rice/person/meal and 1 bottle of Cat Hai fish sauce 60 ml/3 union members and workers. Grassroots trade unions balance financial resources to support a maximum of 50,000 VND/meal; encourage businesses and units to mobilize more resources to improve the quality of meals for workers.
According to the Thuy Nguyen Ward Trade Union, in July, 8 grassroots trade unions in the ward organized Trade Union Meals with the participation of more than 3,000 workers. Notably, many units organized meals with high value such as Saint-Gobain North Vietnam Construction Materials Co., Ltd. with meals up to 150,000 VND/meal, among the highest in the city. This company also organized trade union meals many times at a high level compared to the general level, bringing joy and excitement to workers.
Mr. Luu Trung Bo - Chairman of the company's Trade Union - said that the company currently has 72 employees, 100% of whom are trade union members. Currently, the company is applying a meal allowance of 45,000 VND/portion and adding instant noodles and coffee for the night shift. To encourage employees, the trade union and the company coordinate to organize the Trade Union Meal with a norm of 150,000 VND/person/portion in the form of buffet meals. Not only bringing nutritional value, the Trade Union Meal also brings spiritual value, helping employees have more opportunities to exchange and connect between departments in the company, and increase trust and attachment to the company and trade union.
