Recruiting a large number of workers
According to the forecast, when Long Thanh airport phase 1 is put into operation and exploitation in 2026, it will need nearly 14,000 workers. Therefore, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), airlines, businesses, and state management agencies are recruiting and training workers.
The Long Thanh Airport Job Fair organized by ACV on August 23 recruited nearly 3,000 jobs.
Of which, ACV has recruited nearly 900 people and continuously supplemented and extended the recruitment of workers working at the airport. ACV also identifies human resources as one of the decisive factors.
Mr. Nguyen Cao Cuong - Deputy General Director of ACV affirmed that ACV is committed to accompanying workers throughout the training, skills training and career development process after recruitment.
Other units including airlines, ground handling companies, air cargo companies, air petroleum companies, air meals providers, aircraft maintenance companies, access control centers, etc. also recruit a large number of workers.
Companies licensed to do business at Long Thanh airport such as selling duty-free goods, airline hotels, selling souvenirs, eating, exchanging money, transportation business... also need about 3,000 workers.
Enterprises hired to perform a number of services at airports such as taking care of trees, landscapes; cleaning services for terminals and airports... also need about 2,000 workers.
Dong Nai trains about 4,800 workers
For Dong Nai province, Mr. Le Truong Son - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - said that Dong Nai province is currently implementing a Project on on-site human resource training and development to serve Long Thanh airport in the period of 2024 - 2026, with a vision to 2030.
According to the project, Dong Nai aims to organize training and support job search at Long Thanh airport (inside and outside the airport) for permanent workers in the province by 2030, with a total of about 4,800 people. In particular, in the period of 2024-2026, the policy of integrating training for 1,600 people will be implemented and in the period of 2027-2030, the training will be organized and training will be arranged for 3,200 people.
The implementation process will connect labor supply and demand, coordination between training units, recruiting enterprises and aviation units inside and outside Long Thanh airport. At the same time, prioritize local labor recruitment, ensuring compliance with aviation industry standards.
Regarding subjects, the training and job support project at Long Thanh airport is for workers and students who have graduated from junior high school and high school, meet health and qualifications requirements (University, college, intermediate level), are permanent or temporarily residing legally in Dong Nai. Prioritize vocational training for local workers, meritorious people, poor households, near-poor ethnic minorities, demobilized soldiers and households whose land is recovered.
According to the project, the field of human resource training for Long Thanh airport includes 5 areas: Aviation sector; flight management; aviation transport; provision of aviation and airport services. Other areas are also included in the project, including training human resources for service outside Long Thanh airport such as logistics services; restaurant services; hotel services; commercial services, finance, banking; tourism; goods circulation...
The total cost of the project is more than 121 billion VND, of which the loan for students in the 2024-2030 period is 72 billion VND.
According to the provincial Department of Home Affairs, Long Thanh airport is expected to be operational in 2026, along with the Airport Urban Area and Long Thanh Free Trade Zone, creating a driving force for core development for the locality. When the airport is operational, the labor market will be more vibrant, with a demand for about 55,000 workers.
On the afternoon of December 15, Long Thanh airport conducted a test technical flight from Tan Son Nhat airport to Long Thanh with Boeing 787 aircraft, preparing for the first official flight to Long Thanh airport on December 19.
The plane landed at Long Thanh airport and returned to Tan Son Nhat airport. Technical flights only have flight crews and technical staff, not carrying passengers, carrying goods.
