Burning sports spirit
To celebrate Vietnam Sports Day and within the Action Plan for Workers' Month 2026, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union organized the 2026 EVN Female Employee Football Tournament on March 26 - 27.

Talking about the Tournament, Mr. Do Duc Hung - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union - said that the Tournament is organized at the Group level, with the participation of 10 football teams from units in EVN, showing the spirit of positive response, the deep concern of trade union levels and units for the sports movement, as well as the increasingly affirmed role and position of EVN female officials and employees.
The organizers will award 1 First Prize including the championship cup, Gold Medal and 15 million VND; 1 Second Prize including Silver Medal and 10 million VND; 2 Third Prizes including Bronze Medal and 7 million VND; the remaining teams will receive consolation prizes worth 5 million VND along with some sub-prizes. The tournament is organized methodically and professionally, creating attraction right from the time the teams practice.
Ms. Truong Thi Kim Lien, female football team of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant shared: "We come to the Tournament mainly with a spirit of learning and connecting. However, when you go to the field, the spirit of an electrician is to give your all. Vinh Tan 4 will bring to the tournament a burning spirit like the electricity that we are producing day and night.
Similarly, in the plan to organize Workers' Month 2026 issued by the Da Nang City Labor Federation, there are 6 key tasks, including 2 sports activities: the Culture and Sports Festival "Accompanying Workers" and the City Workers', Civil Servants' and Laborers' Sports Festival in 2026, expected to last from April 25 - May 28, 2026 at the Da Nang City Labor Culture House.
Sports activities, as well as many other activities in Workers' Month 2026 of trade union levels, are all requested by Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - Chairwoman of Da Nang City Labor Federation to "have highlights, have specific products, and be measurable". This shows that the sports movement for union members and workers in general is highly valued by the City Labor Federation, in parallel with the tasks of caring for and protecting the rights and interests of union members and workers.
Creative playground, physical training
Reality over the years shows that at the central level, the VGCL has organized many new and creative sports programs such as the "Creating video clips for mid-hour exercises" contest, the "9th Hour" program in coordination with Vietnam Television, or the National CNVCLĐ Football Tournament in coordination with the Vietnam Football Federation. In localities, the worker sports movement has developed quite evenly with many forms such as football, badminton, table tennis, jogging, and even new sports such as pickleball.

The organizing units, not only each city trade union level but also spread across from commune and ward trade unions, to grassroots trade unions in large enterprises. In Da Nang, just the recent 2026 Olympic Running Day alone attracted nearly 38,500 participants throughout the city, including a large number of union members and workers. These figures show that sports is no longer a short-term movement, but has become a real need, contributing importantly to caring for the spiritual life and building the image of modern, dynamic and creative Vietnamese workers.
Recently, the Management Board of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Parks and Lao Dong Newspaper also organized sports activities for workers through the "Connecting Steps" running tournament. The annual running tournament, starting from 2024, attracts nearly 1,000 athletes each year, mostly workers in industrial parks in the area.
Ms. Ngo Thi Hue, a worker in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park participating in the race co-organized by Lao Dong Newspaper, shared: "After work, participating in activities like this helps me reduce stress, be healthier and feel more attached to colleagues and the company. I hope there will be more programs like this organized and maintained annually so that we workers have more playgrounds.
Connecting people, improving labor quality
If in the past, taking care of union members and workers was often viewed from the perspective of income and welfare, now, the spiritual factor is increasingly placed on par. Sports activities organized by trade union levels nationwide have been and are contributing to creating a positive working environment. When participating together in a tournament, a racetrack or a sports festival, the distance between departments and positions in the business is gradually blurred. Team spirit, sharing and connection are formed naturally. As Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of Da Nang City Labor Federation said: "Organizing sports activities for workers, civil servants, and laborers is not only aimed at improving health, but also creating cohesion and building a positive working environment. This is one of the important solutions to improve the quality of human resources.
Reality from localities has also proven that sports festivals and tournaments are not only an opportunity for exchange, but also become a place to discover positive factors, contributing to building corporate culture and worker culture. Reality shows that a healthy, spirited worker will work more efficiently, be less stressed and stick with the business for a longer time. This is especially important in the context that many industries are facing labor shortages.
Looking broader, investing in worker sports is investing in people. A healthy, active and connected workforce will be an important foundation to improve labor productivity, improve production and service quality. When sports become a part of workers' lives, each playground is not only a place to train health, but also a place to nurture a healthy, persistent human resource that is ready to adapt to the new requirements of the labor market.
