Housing is one of the urgent issues for out-of-province workers in Hanoi. According to the City Labor Federation, many workers renting rooms are still in difficulty, living standards are low, while housing sources do not meet the increasing demand.
Public welfare projects such as: public kindergartens, cultural houses, sports areas and entertainment areas, activity points serving workers in concentrated industrial parks... are still limited. Therefore, the group of issues on social security, housing and workers' lives is one of the contents discussed at the meeting and dialogue.
On May 26, 2026, the Hanoi Department of Construction issued Decision No. 877/QD-SXD approving the list of workers and employees of Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. to continue to rent social housing in the worker housing area, Thien Loc commune, Hanoi City.
Another issue of workers that is also of concern to the Hanoi Trade Union is that in Thang Long Industrial Park, vehicles traveling by motorbike from gate A down to the gate below can only turn up to enter the industrial park.
With a large volume of motorbikes, having to go around far, through dangerous car lanes and causing congestion at the turnaround point. Workers want to build an overpass for motorcyclists to cross the road like a pedestrian bridge to enter Thang Long industrial park, avoiding daily danger.
In addition, workers in industrial parks are currently mainly in suburban areas, far from the center, having to move through roads that go through fields, especially dangerous in the rainy and storm season. To ensure safety for workers, it is proposed that the City People's Committee consider installing lighting systems on main roads; install thu lôi poles in vacant field areas to minimize the risk of accidents when there are thunderstorms.
The City Labor Federation has proposed and suggested for functional agencies to resolve.
The Department of Construction will also continue to coordinate with local authorities, the Industrial Park Management Board and related units to review the current traffic situation, assess traffic volume and level of unsafety to study and propose appropriate solutions.
