President of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor visits and presents gifts to flood-hit areas in Thai Nguyen

On the afternoon of September 12, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) visited and presented gifts to union members and workers affected by floods in Thai Nguyen.

Also joining the delegation were Ms. Vu Thi Giang Huong - Member of the Presidium, Head of Propaganda of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Pham Viet Dung - Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Confederation of Labor...

On the side of Thai Nguyen province, there were Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung - Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Duong Van Tien - Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial Fatherland Front Committee...

At the Hall of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang presented 1,000 gifts to union members and workers to the Thai Nguyen Provincial Fatherland Front, each gift worth 3 million VND.

These gifts will be delivered by the Fatherland Front of Thai Nguyen province and trade unions at all levels of Thai Nguyen province to union members and workers affected by the recent floods in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor shared the difficulties and losses of people and property in Thai Nguyen province in the recent storm and flood. At the same time, he highly appreciated the work of overcoming the consequences, implementing the 4 on-site motto, and proactively implementing natural disaster prevention plans of the authorities as well as the people of Thai Nguyen province.

"Since the storm and flood, trade unions at all levels have mobilized union members and workers to strictly implement local storm and flood prevention plans. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has requested union members at all levels to count the losses of union members and workers in order to promptly have support and sharing policies. Union members and workers who suffer property damage will receive a maximum of 3 million VND in support, injured people will receive 5 million VND in support, and those who unfortunately die will receive 10 million VND in support," said President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang.

At the program, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung - Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee expressed his gratitude to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for promptly visiting, encouraging, and giving gifts to union members and workers in the area affected by the flood. This timely attention will help people, union members, and workers soon stabilize their lives and feel secure in production.

According to Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huy Dung, recent storms and floods in the area have caused more than 600 billion VND in damage, with initial statistics showing 4 deaths.

This is a historic flood in Thai Nguyen province, the water level of Cau River is 2,881cm high, 67cm higher than the historical level in 1959. With the participation of the entire political system, officers, soldiers and people, the situation has basically stabilized at this point.

Also on the afternoon of September 12, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang and his delegation visited and supported Quang Vinh Kindergarten (Thai Nguyen City) with 100 million VND to buy teaching and learning equipment. The money was taken from the support fund of union members and workers nationwide.

Quang Vinh Kindergarten is currently a facility that educates more than 130 children of workers in difficult circumstances in Thai Nguyen province.

President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang also visited and presented gifts to two households affected by storm No. 3 in Thai Nguyen City. Each gift included 3 million VND in cash and 500,000 VND in kind.
