Gift giver, room reduction
Since 1.2 (the 4th of the Lunar New Year), the boarding house of Ms. Phan Thi Ward (Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City) has started to be bustling again. Many workers go to the city early to prepare for the first working day in the new year.
Welcoming workers back after Tet, Mrs. Ward gave lucky money for families with young children. For workers who do not have the conditions to return to the hometown to celebrate Tet, she also decreased from 200,000 to 500,000 dongs of rent, depending on the circumstances.
“Understanding the hardships and hardships of workers, for more than 10 years, before the brothers and sisters came back to celebrate Tet, I have prepared gifts to give them. After Tet, I also gave lucky money for workers with small children as well as reducing rent for the rooms to return to their hometown. Although the value is not great, I hope to help with difficulties for workers away from home, ”Mrs. Ward said.
More than 10 years without increasing rent, Ms. Hoang Thi Luan - owner of the boarding house in Binh Thuy district (Can Tho City) - was happy when workers returned after Tet. Ms. Luan shared that many workers have leased rooms for more than a dozen years, some people have been attached since this inn. So, when the workers were in trouble, she was willing to help.
“Whoever has an accident, difficult illness, I am willing to lend money to treatment. Because I see workers as family members. On Tet holiday, I also gave them gifts. Although simple, but thanks and sharing with workers who have been attached to the family for a long time, ”Ms. Luan shared.
Particularly for some workers who did not return to their hometowns in the last Tet, Ms. Luan also encouraged, visited and donated food to make the family's Tet meals more affluent and full.

The landlord is both careful and understanding for workers. Every time I go back to my hometown to holiday, Tet, I am very reassuring because the inn is very careful, no property theft occurs. When she went back to the city, Ms. Luan was also interested in asking us about the days in the countryside. But more warm than before returning to her hometown, she also gave gifts to her family to celebrate Tet, ”Hanh said.
