Mobilizing units to soon establish grassroots unions
Thao Duong Vinh Cooperative started to pilot the planting of sweet potato seeds in 2023. Initial results show that this type of crop is suitable for local climate and soil conditions. In the first year, the cooperative achieved an output of 15 tons of dried sweet potato leaves.
Entering the period of 2024 - 2025, the unit continues to expand the cultivated area to 10 hectares, bringing the output from the beginning of 2025 to about 40 tons of dried sweet grass, opening up the potential for developing the agricultural economy of commodities associated with processing.
Currently, the cooperative is creating jobs for about 60 workers, of which 25 workers are regularly covered by social insurance, the rest are seasonal workers in the locality. The average income of seasonal workers is about 5 million VND/month, while long-term workers have an average income of 6.5 million VND/month. This is considered a positive result, contributing to improving the lives of people in the area.
At the meeting, the Cao Bang Provincial Federation of Labor directly surveyed the production process, recording the advantages and difficulties in the cooperative's operation process, especially the issue of human resources, policies for workers, as well as the need for support in terms of capital, technology and product consumption.
On that basis, the unit has promoted and mobilized the cooperative to soon establish a grassroots trade union organization - one of the key factors in helping to protect the rights and improve the welfare of employees, while creating a stronger connection between employers and the labor collective.
According to the representative of the Cao Bang Provincial Federation of Labor, grassroots trade unions are not only places for activities and gathering union members but also organizations that represent and protect the legitimate and legal rights of workers. Through the union, employees can give their opinions to businesses on issues directly related to life and work such as shift meals, welfare regimes, working environment, rest time, labor protection equipment, etc.
In addition, the trade union also promotes the role of practical care programs such as "Tet Sum Vay", "Worker's Month", support funds for disadvantaged workers, business - labor dialogue, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of union members.

Through discussions with the working group, Thao Duong Vinh Cooperative expressed its desire to receive more support from the Provincial Labor Federation and local authorities, in helping workers access welfare policies, receive vocational training, improve skills and ensure a stable life.
The Board of Directors of the Cooperative also affirmed that it will meet to discuss and agree to send representatives of workers, mobilize union members to voluntarily participate in the Trade Union organization, and at the same time request the Provincial Labor Federation to continue to guide the establishment procedures.
It can be seen that in the context of agricultural cooperatives seeking a new direction, the participation of the Labor Federation is not only formal but also clearly demonstrates effectiveness. From policy consulting, supporting trade union building, to accompanying businesses in developing production and caring for workers.
