Quickly take action, protect workers' rights
On July 15, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation announced the decision to establish 28 commune, ward and special zone trade unions. Just a few days after its establishment, Thuy Nguyen Ward Trade Union received recommendations and feedback from employees related to wages.
Accordingly, Ms. Thanh Thuy (name changed), an employee of a facility specializing in providing meals for VSIP Industrial Park, reported that her salary was held back by the enterprise. Ms. Thuy is a contract worker. In June 2025, due to a work break in the family, Ms. Dung resigned. 3 days after reporting to the business leaders, Ms. Thuy stopped to resolve family matters, instead of having to wait 45 days as prescribed. Therefore, the company kept Ms. Thuy's May salary.
Through the reflection of the employees, Thuy Nguyen Ward Union analyzed the responsibilities of both parties according to regulations so that Ms. Thuy could understand. On the other hand, the Ward Union worked with the enterprise to resolve the incident, ensuring the rights of employees. As a result, after 2 days, the company balanced the damages caused by Ms. Thuy's unpaid dismissal and paid Ms. Thuy's salary.
It is known that after the above incident, the Thuy Nguyen Ward Trade Union fanpage continued to receive recommendations and reflections from employees whose salaries were owed by enterprises. The ward union has also supported employees to contact the Do Son ward union for answers, help, and ensure their rights in accordance with the provisions of law. Up to now, all employees have also been paid their salaries.
In the first week after its establishment, the Gia Vien Ward Trade Union also started developing union members and establishing grassroots unions. The unit promotes and mobilizes the establishment of grassroots trade unions at Hoa Anh Dao Kindergarten, developing 37 new union members. Along with that, support union member Do Quang Ngoc with funds to repair the Trade Union Shelter at 5/23199 Lach Tray. Up to now, the project has been basically completed, helping Mr. Ngoc's family stabilize their lives, demonstrating the timely concern and care of the Trade Union organization for union members and employees.
According to the Hai Phong City Labor Federation, after being established, the trade unions of communes, wards and special zones quickly stabilized their organization and improved personnel to immediately start regular tasks in 2025 as well as an emergency task in protecting the legitimate and legal rights of workers. Typically, the Union Meal program is actively implemented by the Trade Unions of communes and wards in almost all grassroots trade unions, bringing meals from 60,000 - 200,000 VND to tens of thousands of union members.
Deciding to organize to focus on taking care of workers
To support the units, recently, on August 21, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation organized a training conference, equipping the team of union officials with basic contents and knowledge of union activities according to the model of the commune, ward and special zone union after the merger to ensure unified and synchronous implementation in the process of performing tasks. The leaders of the City Labor Federation also listened to the thoughts and aspirations of the union staff, promptly answering questions so that staff can work with peace of mind.
Previously, during the working session in Hai Phong City, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong emphasized that the establishment of trade unions in communes, wards and special zones is an important turning point in consolidating and perfecting the trade union apparatus in the direction of streamlining and efficiency, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new period.
The Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requested the City Labor Federation to support the trade unions of communes, wards and special zones in developing and performing functions and tasks; developing a plan to direct and organize Trade Union Congresses at all levels according to the instructions of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
