Workers have few jobs, trade unions have plans to take care of Tet
In 2025, many manufacturing enterprises in the North of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to be affected by fluctuations in the world economy. Orders have decreased, production has shrunk, workers only work during office hours, so their income has decreased, and their lives have many difficulties. In that context, the Trade Unions proactively plan to take care of Tet for disadvantaged workers during the 2026 Lunar New Year.
Mr. Mai Thanh Tuyen - Chairman of the Trade Union of Shyang Hung Cheng Company Limited (An Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) - said that this year the company did not have many orders as before. Currently, the company is maintaining an 8 hour/day production schedule for about 7,400 workers.
In the context of limited income for workers and many difficulties in life, the Trade Union of Shyang Hung Cheng Company Limited actively maintains activities to care for the lives of union members. The company's Trade Union has organized milk donations to more than 7,000 union members and workers. This program has a total cost of 244.6 million VND.
The grassroots trade union has reviewed and grasped the living conditions of workers in difficulty. The Executive Committee of the Trade Union visited the boarding house to encourage and support 100 union members in difficult circumstances with a total cost of 44.3 million VND. The company's kindergarten is also maintaining the organization of free childcare support for hundreds of union members with young children.
Mr. Mai Thanh Tuyen said that the unit has proactively planned to take care of Tet for union members. The grassroots trade union continues to recommend to business owners to continue maintaining Tet bonuses (month 13 salary) for employees.
In addition, each worker was given a gift of about 400,000-500,000 VND. The grassroots trade union also organized the "Tet Sum Vay" program, giving gifts to support workers in difficulty, and drawing lots to win prizes.
Giving gifts and bus tickets to workers returning home
Located in An Phu ward, Thong Dung Shoes Company Limited has more than 4,600 employees. This year, the employment of workers is relatively stable. Workers work overtime, with an average income of over 8 million VND per month. However, the lives of workers still face many difficulties due to increased product prices.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien - Chairman of the company's Trade Union - said that the unit plans to take care of Tet for union members and workers, and review cases of workers in difficulty to prepare for support.
"This year, the Trade Union will give gifts on New Year's Day and Lunar New Year gifts. Organize the Tet Sum vay program, give gifts to disadvantaged workers. The union is calculating to review workers who have not returned home for Tet for many years to give bus and train tickets. Hopefully, through these activities, it will help workers ease some of their difficulties during Tet" - Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien shared.
Meanwhile, in Thuan Giao ward, Hai My Company Limited is creating stable jobs for about more than 4,000 workers.
Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Trade Union - said that the unit is preparing a plan to take care of union members and workers during the 2026 Lunar New Year; recommending that businesses maintain Tet bonuses to encourage workers.
According to Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan, this year the unit will continue to maintain the program of giving Tet gifts to all union members and workers.
In addition, review and grasp cases facing difficulties due to accidents and serious diseases to organize visits and support. In case of special difficulties, it is recommended that the higher-level trade union provide additional support. The Trade Union tries to make all workers have a warm and sharing Tet.
Timely support union members in difficult circumstances
The Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union's Area Management Working Group No. 9 said that the unit has directed grassroots trade unions, commune and ward trade unions to proactively develop a plan to take care of Tet for union members and workers; regularly grasp the lives and promptly support cases in especially difficult circumstances. Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union coordinated with units to provide support to 2 union members suffering from serious illnesses who died in Ben Cat ward, each case was supported with 10 million VND.
