Forget all the feeling of motion sickness
On the night of January 25 (December 26), Lo Thi Mai (23 years old, from Son La) and her husband waited for a bus on Highway 5, eagerly waiting to return home to celebrate Tet with their family. From the highlands, the couple went to Hai Duong to work as workers for a company located in Kim Thanh district (Hai Duong province) for 3 years.
Lo Thi Mai and her husband left their two children with their grandparents. The older child is 3 years old, and the younger is 2 years old. Living far away from home brings with it a deep longing for their children, so this Tet holiday, Lo Thi Mai and her husband are happy and excited to be able to return home to their children.
"Working far from home, I miss my children so much. When I received my Tet bonus, I took the opportunity to buy clothes and lots of candy for the two children. In just a few hours, I will be able to go home to my children. Every time I travel by car, I get very car sick, but thinking about being able to go home to my children soon, I forget all the feeling of car sickness" - Ms. Lo Thi Mai shared.
Carrying a lot of luggage, standing at the gate of Lai Vu Industrial Park (Kim Thanh district, Hai Duong province), Mr. Hang A Tung and his wife Giang Thi Nhu (Sin Ho district, Lai Chau province) waited for the late bus to return home for Tet.
On the back of Giang Thi Nhu, her daughter, less than 2 years old, was sleeping soundly. Following the advice of friends, Nhu and her husband, Tung, went to Hai Duong to work as workers at Tinh Loi Garment Company Limited (Hai Duong City) for 5 years.
Years ago, before they had children, the couple chose to ride a motorbike back to their hometown. However, since their child was small, they took a sleeper bus to ensure safety.
"My child is still young and often sick, so my husband and I have to bring him down here to take care of him. We hire a babysitter for 100,000 VND/day. In previous years, we used to ride a motorbike at night to be proactive. But now that we have a small child, we can't ride a motorbike," said Giang Thi Nhu.
Mr. Hang A Tung said: "When we go back to our hometown for Tet, the company subsidizes our bus tickets, so we save a lot of money. This year, we got a decent Tet bonus, so we are excited to go back to our hometown to shop for Tet. My little daughter knew she was going to be back with her grandparents, so she was also happy the night before."
Family is everything
Waiting for the bus not far away, Mr. Truong Minh Duong (Quan Ba district, Ha Giang province) waited for the 10 pm bus. Mr. Duong and his wife both work as factory workers with low salaries. However, with only a few days a year to be with their family, they still decided to spend money to go back to their hometown to buy gifts for both families.
"After a year of hard work, we chose to return to our hometown for a long vacation to reunite with our family, hoping for a better new year. After work, my wife and I went shopping for Tet.
We only get to reunite with our family once a year, so even though our finances are not too good, we still spend money on shopping to have a full Tet. Because our family is everything, we will earn money eventually, but we don't have much time to spend with our family" - Mr. Truong Minh Duong shared.
Ms. Vuong Thi Kia - Mr. Duong's wife said that after work, the couple cleaned up their belongings and clothes and got ready to leave. Even though they had to wait for the bus for a long time and were tired, they still felt happy because they were about to return to their family.
"Workers far from home like us are happy to be able to return home for Tet. Leaving the factory, everyone looks excited. We female workers are very happy. One of them left her young child with her grandparents, and she couldn't sleep the night before being able to return home to her child for Tet. No matter where we go, being able to return home to reunite with our family is still the happiest thing," Kia shared.
