On January 24, the Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor organized a delegation to visit union members and workers in worker dormitories who did not return home for Tet in Chau Thanh district.
The delegation visited union members of the following trade unions: Bright Star Seafood Company Limited; Hyundai Kien Giang Automobile Investment Company Limited, and Hwaseung Rach Gia Company Limited.
At each place visited, Chairman of the Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor Truong Thanh Thuy kindly asked about the life, work and health of union members and workers. The Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor also wished union members and workers a warm traditional New Year, to study and work hard to work well with local Party committees, authorities and enterprises to develop the family economy.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung - Chairman of the Trade Union of Hyundai Kien Giang Automobile Investment Company Limited - shared: “My hometown is Can Tho. This Tet, I and some colleagues did not return home to celebrate Tet because conditions did not allow it. Today, the Trade Union organization visited and gave us gifts, we felt very happy, comforted and encouraged. During Tet, everyone wants to return home to reunite with their families, but due to certain circumstances, we have to stay. Hopefully, everything will be better in the new year, so that next year we can return home to celebrate Tet with our families.”
Ms. Truong Thanh Thuy - President of the Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor - said: As part of the series of activities to take care of Tet, the Provincial Federation of Labor has organized many programs and activities with the motto that all union members have Tet.
“We target union members and workers who cannot return home for Tet. During these days before Tet, they really need attention and encouragement, and the Union is trying its best to help them have a warm and happy Tet. Visiting them and giving them many gifts also contributes to making the care activities more diverse, so that workers can enjoy more,” Ms. Thuy emphasized.
During this time, the delegation gave 34 gifts, each worth 500,000 VND, to disadvantaged union members in boarding houses who could not return home for Tet.
During the visit, the delegation also visited Hwaseung Rach Gia Company Limited to wish a happy new year and inquired about the lives of workers. At the company's reunion dinner, the Provincial Federation of Labor also presented 60 gifts from the President (each worth 1.3 million VND) to union members in difficult circumstances; the Provincial Federation of Labor presented 200 gifts to union members in difficult circumstances (each worth 500,000 VND); 5 gifts to children of union members in difficult circumstances (each worth 600,000 VND).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga - a worker at Hwaseung Rach Gia Company Limited - shared that her family's situation is difficult as she is raising two young children to go to school, and her husband's income from working for hire is also quite unstable.
“I have worked at the company for 6 years. The company and the Trade Union have supported me with many gifts and programs, which makes me very happy. I also try to work hard and stick with the company. Near Tet, we are visited and encouraged, and we also receive gifts for the workers, which makes us very excited,” Ms. Nga confided.
