Not just taking care of peak season
The reality of the activities of trade union organizations at all levels in Da Nang for many years shows that the activity of caring for workers is often concentrated at peak times during Tet, Workers' Month... then gradually "cools down" during the year. However, the activities of 31 grassroots trade unions directly under the Da Nang City Labor Federation in the first quarter of 2026 show that Da Nang trade union levels have somewhat changed this approach.
Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation - said: In addition to Tet care programs for union members and workers during the recent traditional Tet holiday with a total budget of nearly 40 billion VND, 31 grassroots trade unions directly under the Da Nang City Labor Federation also organized many regular activities such as: Legal support for workers to sue, handle wage arrears, participate in resolving issues related to social insurance and health insurance... This shows that the role of the trade union goes on two main pillars: caring for and protecting the rights of union members and workers.
In addition, the fact that grassroots trade unions regularly organize programs such as preferential loans, voluntary blood donation, support for difficult areas... shows that trade unions are expanding their scope of activities, associated with broader social responsibility. Notably, organization building work is also focused on with the establishment of 31 new grassroots trade unions, developing more than 1,300 union members in the first quarter. This is an important foundation to expand the coverage of trade unions in the labor sector.
Towards comprehensive care
According to Mr. Le Van Dai, in the second quarter of 2026, Da Nang City Labor Federation identified it as an acceleration phase with a focus on Workers' Month 2026. A noteworthy point is that activities are not only focused on material support, but also aimed at more comprehensive care for workers. Job counseling programs, business-employee connections, or skills competitions... help improve job opportunities and sustainable income. Free health check-ups, especially for heavy labor, hazardous labor, and female labor, are also promoted by trade union levels to improve the quality of life for union members and workers.
Another highlight is the organization of dialogue forums including the program "May Dialogue" and the Forum "Union members contribute ideas to build Vietnam Trade Unions in the new era". This is a space for workers to directly share difficulties and propose solutions, instead of just receiving one-way policies and is an important channel for trade unions to adjust operations closely to actual needs, while increasing transparency and accountability.
However, according to Mr. Le Van Dai, besides the achieved results, the activities of 31 grassroots trade unions directly under the Da Nang City Labor Federation in the first quarter of 2026 still have limitations such as incomplete reporting, slow congress organization at some grassroots levels, or the connection between trade union levels is not really effective after the process of arranging the apparatus.
These limitations, if not overcome in time, will affect the effectiveness of implementing major programs in the coming time," Mr. Dai said.
It can be seen that the first quarter of 2026 has laid a fairly solid foundation for the trade union activities of Da Nang city. But more importantly, from that foundation, trade union levels need to continue to innovate their ways of working, increase connectivity and be more proactive in grasping the actual needs of workers. Only when workers truly feel the companionship, will trade unions not only be a representative organization, but become a solid support in their lives and work.
