In the days leading up to the election, along with the joyful atmosphere spreading throughout Lang Son province, trade union levels are promoting many propaganda and support activities to help union members and workers understand their rights and obligations as citizens and conveniently participate in voting.
Talking to reporters, Ms. Be Thi Hoa - Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairwoman of the Lang Son Provincial Labor Federation - said that in the past time, the grassroots trade union executive committees at units and businesses have proactively coordinated with agency and business leaders to implement many forms of propaganda about election work to union members and workers.
Accordingly, the content of propaganda is carried out through activities, hanging banners, slogans, disseminating legal regulations on elections, rights and obligations of voters.
Trade union levels have actively propagated in many forms, contributing to raising awareness for union members and workers about the meaning and importance of election work; creating an atmosphere of excitement and confidence towards the festival of the country," Ms. Hoa said.
Not only stopping at propaganda, many grassroots trade unions also proactively coordinate with businesses to arrange reasonable working hours for workers to exercise their citizenship rights.
Mr. Nguyen Van Kien - Chairman of Dong Tam Cooperative Trade Union - said that before the March 15 election, the grassroots trade union proactively coordinated with the unit to arrange suitable shifts and working groups, ensuring 100% of union members and workers had conditions to participate in voting.
According to Mr. Kien, in the past time, the trade union executive committee has promoted propaganda to help workers and laborers understand the meaning of election day - a great festival of the whole people.
We always propagate to union members and workers to clearly understand civic responsibility for the election. On election day March 15, the unit will arrange for workers to work early, complete tasks from the beginning of the hour so that everyone can conveniently go to vote, ensuring their rights and obligations," Mr. Kien said.
Also according to Mr. Kien, through propaganda work, the awareness of workers and laborers about citizens' rights and responsibilities has been clearly raised. Workers understand that participating in elections is not only a legitimate right but also a responsibility to the locality and the country.
Currently, Dong Tam Cooperative Trade Union has 60 union members, mainly environmental sanitation workers. This is a labor force with a specific nature of work, a large workload, a hard working environment, and potential hazards.
Therefore, grassroots trade unions always pay attention to advising and coordinating with units to take care of life, ensure regimes for workers, and at the same time, create conditions for union members to fully exercise their citizen rights during elections.
From the perspective of workers, Ms. Nong Thi Thanh Huyen - a worker at Bao Long Co., Ltd. - said that workers are very interested in the election and expect delegates after being elected to pay more attention to workers' lives.
According to Ms. Huyen, workers want to have stable jobs, income sufficient to cover living expenses, guaranteed insurance regimes, a safe working environment, and at the same time have more access to housing, welfare and health care policies.
She also hopes that the opinions and concerns from the reality of labor production will be listened to more, so that later policies will truly go into life, becoming a practical support for workers.
