Faced with the emergency blood shortage at the hospital, the Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation has actively mobilized union members and workers to participate in voluntary blood donation.

Mobilizing workers to participate in blood donation

In mid-March 2026, the Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) coordinated with the Provincial Red Cross Society and Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital (BVĐK) to organize the "Voluntary Blood Donation" program phase 1 of 2026. The activity attracted a large number of union members and workers to participate, contributing to supplementing blood sources for emergency and treatment.

This blood donation program attracted more than 200 union members and workers from Nam Dong Ha Ward Trade Union, Dong Ha Ward and many grassroots trade unions such as MAG Quang Tri Project, Hoa Binh Tree Organization, RENEW/NPA, Nam Quang Tri Eye Hospital, Quang Tri Lung Hospital. As a result, 197 units of blood were received, including many volunteers donating with a volume of 350ml. This is an important blood source, timely to supplement emergency and treatment work at medical facilities in the area.

At the program, Mr. Nguyen Tai Minh - Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation - directly participated in blood donation, contributing to spreading the spirit of responsibility and humanity among trade union officials. According to Mr. Minh, in the face of the reality that the blood source for emergency services is lacking, the Provincial Labor Federation has proactively mobilized union members and workers to participate in voluntary blood donation, considering this a task of profound social significance.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Tuyet - Deputy Head of the Trade Union Affairs Committee, Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation - said that the Provincial Trade Union has organized many blood donation drives and mobilized a large number of union members and workers to participate. Not only stopping at periodic blood donation drives, Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation also develops plans, ready to mobilize resources when emergency situations occur.

Need for joint efforts to solve the situation of blood shortage in emergency care

According to Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital, the situation of blood shortage for emergency and treatment is still occurring, especially at times when the number of patients is increasing.

Mr. Phan Xuan Nam - Director of Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital - said that in the past time, the hospital has repeatedly fallen into a state of blood shortage, directly affecting emergency care and treatment for patients. The current blood source is mainly supplied from the Central Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center and Cuba - Dong Hoi Hospital. However, this supply volume does not meet the actual needs at the hospital.

Faced with that reality, the hospital has proactively called for the joint efforts of all officials and employees in the unit, and at the same time mobilized organizations and individuals in the province to participate in blood donation. In particular, the coordination of the Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation in mobilizing union members and employees to participate in blood donation is considered an important source of support, contributing to solving the blood shortage problem.

In the context of increasing blood demand, the involvement of the Trade Union organization and units and individuals in Quang Tri province is contributing to creating a sustainable blood donation network, promptly saving many patients in critical situations.
